The deadline for a 50 percent discount on fines for all types of traffic violations will end on Thursday, a senior official from traffic department announced.

The department had announced the discount for fines registered before December 31, 2015 and starting from January 8, 2016.

The initial deadline was April 7, 2016 which was extended to July 7. The department will remain open during Eid-Al-Fitr holidays from 8am to noon.

Motorists can visit the department or use Metrash2 to pay the fines to avail the discount, said Major Jaber Al Adiba.

The article seems to be poorly worded...the discount offer duration started from 8 Jan 2016...until the extended date...and applies to violations booked before Dec 2015...all 2016 fines are payable in full...

"The department had announced the discount for fines registered before December 31, 2015 and starting from January 8, 2016." What does that mean? Any violation prior to December 31, 2015 gets a 50% discount. Any violation starting from January 8, 2016 gets a 50% discount. Violations between January 1 to January 7, 2016 have to paid in full.

This information is not true. Today I paid the fine via metrash2. There are no discounts at all. They took the whole amount.

It's funny, that's all. Who will take the traffic department serious after all the "sales" actions?
