People who use Qatar’s postal services may have felt a little strange at times, because they do not deliver mails to your local addresses.

However, that may be about to change as The Peninsula reports that Qatar Postal Services Company (Q-Post) is set to engage private courier or logistic companies to provide home-delivery service to its clients.

The Smart Innovation Lab at the Ministry of Transport and Communications is also developing a new drone delivery system.

“Q-Post has initiated a pilot project of home delivery services in Al Wakrah using the national address system. Q-Post is currently exploring the best delivery options for customers for future roll-out,” read a recently issued yearly performance report of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

At the moment, users are only allowed to collect their parcels and letters from Post Office boxes which they rent out at different locations.

The company's main post office is in Al Dafna area. There are more than 40 Q-Post branches, with 18 of them having PO box facilities.

“Moreover, Q-post partnered with different establishments and entities to offer special and various delivery services,” the report said.

I was part of the two month pilot project for home delivery from October to December. They deliver 6 times a week. Only problem is that they do not call before so if you not at home, then they will come the next day. Also, if customs needs to inspect your items for electronics, then unfortunately you will have to go into the main QPost branch. All in all, definitely a service i would sign up for. I had approximately 30 of my parcels delivered to my home in the two months so it is very convenient.
