Here is some good news for all motorists with pending traffic fines from last year. You only have to pay 50 percent of that fine and have time till April 7, 2016 to settle the same.

The General Directorate of Traffic announced 50 percent reductions for all traffic fines registered before December 31, 2015.

This discount in fine payment will be available for those paying the fines within 3 months periods starting January 8, 2016 until April 7, 2016.

According to a post by Ministry of Interior on their social media platforms the deduction is available for all type of traffic fines recorded before the December 31, 2015 including radar recorded violations, violations given by traffic cops and vehicle impounding.

It is absolutely hilarious how the Traffic Department compliments and supports traffic violators. They should double the penalties for those who pay one month late!! Only in Qatar even the authorities make fun of their own laws!

A good move to encourage people to pay up. I hope that once the April deadline passes , the authorities will take strong measures against those still outstanding.

While appreciating the step taken by traffic department, I must say it is unfair for those people who has already cleared their traffic fines in 2015 itself. The authorities should also consider those people's plea and credit back 50% of the fines that they paid already in 2015 for the violations took place in 2015.
