Qatar customs catch drug smuggler at Hamad International Airport
The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 5kg of marijuana into the country.
The contraband was found after a GAC officer became suspicious about a passenger, who had arrived at Doha's Hamad International Airport (HIA) from an Asian country, and decided to conduct a thorough search of his luggage.
The marijuana was found wrapped within some foodstuff inside the passenger's luggage.
Ajab Mansur al-Qahtani, director of HIA Customs, said the alert officer felt the passenger was acting strangely which aroused his suspicion.
Further, the director stressed that the efficiency of the cadre was responsible for the seizure, in addition to having state-of-the-art equipment. [Gulf Times]
Countries try their best to curb the drug trade, but its been estimated that for every trafficker that is caught, nine get through...no wonder those drug cartels keep thriving...
