Qatar Rail unveils Metroexpress service
For what is sure to be exciting news for Doha metro users, Qatar Rail has announced a first-ever Metroexpress serviceto be added to its existing brand new Metro rail network.
The Metroexpress is set to have a free trial run that will serve the areas around West Bay and DECC
Bookings for this service can be done via the Metroexpress Doha App.
The application is designed to a couple of passengers traveling to a common destination and direct the driver, via a navigation system, to pick up the passengers at the time and place set during booking.

To encourage passengers to use the service, it will run for free during its trial phase to assess its efficiency and improve practicality.
This service is only for those who are registered with Qatar Rail and can be used in conjunction with a metro journey.
The operating hours for Metroexpress will be the same as Doha metro operation hours, from 6:00 am until 11:00 pm.
This service is intended to reduce traffic congestions and parking issues, and save time for commuters.
Metroexpress will use Mercedes Vito vans, which can accommodate seven people at a time.
The Metro buses, which were introduced earlier this year, are already serving a large number of metro passengers.
The service is being operated in association with Mowasalat. It has been providing a means of transportation around a specific zone, for commuters to travel to and from that zone’s metro station.
As of now, the bus service is free of charge for all. Charges may apply later as smart card payment machines have been installed inside the buses.
