Qatar’s Ministry of Education launches new electronic pre-registration system
If you are a parent and you have tried to get your children admitted to schools in Qatar, then you may have a good idea about the struggles and confusions involved in it.
In order to make things easier for everyone, Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has launched an electronic pre-registration system in private schools for the next academic year, reported Gulf Times.
This has been done in order to decrease the number of mistakes in the enrollment process.
The online portal will allow parents to know the exact number of the students on the waiting list and the number of seats available in the required grade in all schools, according to The Peninsula.
The Department of Private School Licenses recently organized a workshop to introduce the new system and its importance as well as the process of early registration to ensure that all students have seats before the academic year 2018-19.
Department Director Hamad Al Ghali said the new system would reduce the challenges faced by a number of schools and nurseries. The system will also enable parents to know the seats available in a school and where their children stand on its admission wait list.
However, the main objective of the system is to ensure private schools adhere to their capacity, Al Ghali was quoted as saying by Qatar Tribune.
He added that the system would make sure that no school conducts an admission test or interview as long as it doesn’t have at least one vacant seat.
“The electronic registration application submitted through the system enables schools to track the applicant’s academic transfer history for the last two years, which will assist schools in knowing the student’s previous school and academic curriculum in addition to their grade level,” he said.
Al Ghali said that there was huge load on private and public schools during the pre-registration phase, something that prompted the ministry to launch the electronic service to ease the burden.
The system will make sure that schools abide by the capacity allotted for each class by the Joint Services Department. But a school will have the freedom to distribute the available vacant seats in the classes they have.
Parents will also be able to follow up their e-applications through the reference number received through an SMS generated by the system.
Schools should enter all applications received from students into the system and determine the admission tests, whether written or interviews, and send an SMS notifying the parents about the designated date and time.
Schools have to verify the contact numbers of parents entered in the system to facilitate communication. In the event of booking a seat and paying the required fees, guardians must know that the names of such students will be removed from all waiting lists.
Besides, parents should also know that a school would not be able to book a seat for their children after completing the registration process in case fees and charges are due to another school. This is aimed at protecting the rights of all schools.

skedo54 please mention the school also.. even i have faced many things like that. All things here are just business. Last 2 months im running to get admission for my daughter here. All school seats are full here. They even dont allow to meet principal for admission purpose. At least they should allow me to register to get admission if there is any seats available.
and same portal we can use to report school.
1. taking extra money by taking a digital pic and given color printout with poor Photoshop (25 QR )
2. no proper arrangement during any function ( like 70% people setting 30% standing by caring there small babies in hand ).
3. taking high fees but not able to provide water during function, forget parents, but students below 5 year ( 8AM to 11:30 ) who's going to participate.
4. if you raise your voice they will see you like criminal and if you take a video to post online their staff said we dont care.
5. last :)) :)) principal is the root of school, in my whole life (40 years ) i never saw a principal shouting on parents during function but here not only shouting but he lost his tamper over parents :) bcoz standing and taking pic lol
