Qatar’s population hit an all-time high of 2.6 million
If some of you noticed that crowds in Qatar nowadays are bigger than ever before, then there is a reason behind that.
For the first time ever, the country’s population has crossed 2.6m people, according to data released by the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS).
Statistics revealed that Qatar was home to 2,611,000 people at the end of October, a 2.3% rise in numbers compared to September (2,553,000). Qatar’s lowest population this year was recorded in July, at 2,326,000 people.
The current figures are an amazing 8.3% higher than the numbers from last year. Qatar’s population has more than quadrupled in the last 16 years. The population, which was 614,000 in 2000, crossed the one million mark in 2006.
