Qatari boxer Sadiq breaks world record for two-finger push ups
It was another day and another world record for Qatar. However, unlike previous occasions, this was a purely personal achievement rather than a team one.
Qatari boxer Abdellatif Mohamed Sadiq broke the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of push ups, using one finger in each hand, in a minute. He completed 72 push ups, much to the delight of fans and media, reported Gulf Times.
Although officials from the Guinness Book of World Records were not present, it was a widely televised event and that will count towards its authenticity.
The current record is in the name of India’s Aryan Grover, who finished 52 push ups in a minute in Jaipur on August 15, 2016.
Sadiq’s record came on the day the Federation of Boxing and Wrestling, chaired by Youssef Al Kazim, launched the Tamim Al Majd mural.
“I’m so happy I could achieve this record. Qatar sports is certainly flying high and it has a bright future ahead,” said Sadiq, after setting the record.
“I was keen to document this Qatari achievement through the presence of various media, especially the sports channels because of its international reputation, and to preserve the rights of this achievement to Sadiq,” Al Kazim said.
