Russian president Putin to give World Cup host’s mantle to HH The Emir tomorrow

HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Russian President Vladimir Putin and FIFA President Gianni Infantino will come together in a special ceremony on Sunday, reported Reuters.

During the ceremony, Putin will officially hand over the mantle for organisation of the next FIFA World Cup to the Qatari leader, revealed a Kremlin official, according to Gulf Times.

Meanwhile, Putin and HH The Emir will discuss developments in the Middle East at a separate meeting on Sunday, The Peninsula reported, citing Kremlin’s foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov.

Yesterday, Infantino had officially confirmed the dates for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time. The Middle East’s first World Cup is scheduled to run from November 21 to December 18, 2022.
