Student, relative who assaulted Qatari school principal and officials arrested
Officials of a public school for boys were beaten-up by a student and his family member on Sunday, reported The Peninsula.
This shocking incident came to light when the Ministry of Education mentioned it on Twitter, condemning the violence and saying appropriate action had been taken against the aggressors including arrests.
Hassan Ajran Al Buainain, the director of Omar bin Al Khattab Secondary School for Boys, and another official were attacked morning by a student and a family member.
“The Ministry of Education and Higher Education deplores this behaviour which has nothing to do with the ethics of our students, and the authorities have initiated necessary measures against the aggressors after their arrest,” the ministry tweeted.
Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi is pursuing the matter with special authorities and have checked on the health of the victims who have been transferred to the Hamad Medical Corporation for treatment, reported Qatar Tribune.
Director of Schools’ Affairs Department Khalifa al Derham said the ministry has taken necessary action in the matter and is providing the victims with all support as it does not accept any form of violence against any member of the educational institutions.
In another report, Qatar Tribune, talking to some students who witnessed the incident, reported on how it unfurled.
They said the act of violence came from a student’s parent after his son was caught cheating and was banned from continuing examination at the school. The witnesses noted that the student was home-schooled and was taking the examination at that school without regularly attending classes.
It was indeed very sad to read of this incident. It is very rare something of such a nature takes place in any country across the world. Teachers are a beacon of light. They are the ones who lay the foundation for the future generations. They are a highly respected lot of people in all societies across the globe. It appears the accused did not receive any education let alone upbringing in a good, cultured family atmosphere.
I have seen many uneducated people giving great respect to educators even more than educated people do, as they realize the great value of education which life did not allow them an opportunity to get.
