Three-year jail and fine for man who killed five people in car crash
It was on October 6, 2014, when five Filipino expatriates were burned to death near the Hamad International Airport after another car pummeled into theirs at high speed.
The deceased had been identified as Marilou Cal, Joyce Lozada Gelli, Bencris Rivera, his wife Joycelyn Rivera and their child Arclian Zirc.
More than two years later, a Doha Criminal Court sentenced the young man who caused the crash to three years in jail and imposed him with a fine of QR18,000, reported Gulf Times.
The young man, who was 18 at the time, had been driving without a license at a speed of more than 150km/her in a 60kmph area. The car’s registration and road permit had also expired.
The powerful crash caused the fuel tank of the victims’ vehicle to explode and the car went up in flames. The driver admitted to his mistake and was punished by the court.
The court ordered the defendant to pay QR200,000 as blood money to each of the expired person’s legal inheritors.

Maybe he just ignored the speed limit ...
