Timely intervention by authorities prevents expat’s suicide attempt
There was high drama atop a high-voltage electric tower as an expatriate climbed up the rungs with the intention of committing suicide.
Alerted by passersby, security agencies rushed to the spot and prevented the act from taking place, reported The Peninsula.
Ministry of Interior, in a tweet on its social media platform, said authorities including police, civil defense and Lekhwiya were dispatched to the scene after National Command Centre received a call about the expatriate trying to commit suicide.
After quickly assessing the situation, officials tried to calm the worker down and also disconnected electric supply at the same time. They engaged in a dialogue with the expatriate and also let him speak to his wife back home.
Once the expatriate calmed down, civil defense officials reached him using a crane and brought him safely back to the ground.
While it is still unclear as to what prompted the man to try and take the drastic step, a formal investigation has been opened.
Congratulations to the civil defence authorities for saving a human life.

How enlightening - So one of the key stress issues is family (sisters / brothers, in-laws) demanding money from an expat worker ...
How sad!!
Abrar, Thanks for your appreciation my pal .................... My sympathy with this guy ................ ................................ .................................
molten you hit the right spot...though reason for this guy is unknown.
Guess he will face prison now. Suicide and attempting it is a criminal offence in Qatar!
Separation from the family & demands from the married sisters / bros in laws are the major source of stress for the expats from Asia ............ ......... ..... The poor soul gets cheated at every step of the life .............. ........... ............ ....... No solution in the sight .............
I think rather than jailing, they can provide him with a counselor, who can help him get through his tough time. Good job by the authorities!
Suicide is not the solution to problems, for in doing such an act, you bring more trouble and sadness to your dear ones.
Well done to the Civil Defence...
Is he in jail now ?
