The country is still in mourning and shock after the tragic death of the 47 year old, active Filipina community member, Chona Rian-Pingul who was killed in a fire accident at her home last Sunday.

Little did Chona and her husband Rafael (Raffy) Paule know the tragedy that their whole family will face that Sunday night when a fire broke in their apartment in Muntaza.

Doha News claims that the family had been asleep when the fire had apparently started in the bedroom of their 13 year old daughter, Micaela.

Also, the online news portal further mentions that the Police had reached the building at about 2:40AM and the whole family had been rescued from the fire and rushed to Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

However, the Emergency staff at the hospital had been unable to save Chona and she died.

Also, husband Raffy and daughter Micaela still remain in a critical condition at the Hospital while the son Rafael was discharged from the hospital.

The Peninsula reports that HMC where Raffy works as an operating theatre technician has released a statement saying, “It is with great sadness that we inform you several of our HMC family members have been devastated by a residential fire yesterday”.

Also, to ensure the safety and well-being of other staff members and their families housed in the building, HMC has taken immediate steps to provide suitable emergency accommodation for them.

Very tragic. May she rest in peace and my prayers are for the quick recovery of the other family members.
