Vehicle number plate workshop to be shifted to Industrial Area
The vehicle number plate workshop of the Traffic Department will soon be shifted to the Ministry of Interior’s services centre complex in the Doha Industrial Area from its current location in Madinat Khalifa North, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
Captain Mubarak Mahbub, head of the Car Plate Workshop Division at the Traffic Department, said the new workshop has been equipped with “smart manufacturing machines” made in Germany.
He explained that the Industrial Area workshop has 10 plate-manufacturing machines while the one in Madinat Khalifa has eight.
The new facility also has four tracks that can handle 10 vehicles each.
The time required to complete the necessary procedures — for getting a new plate number or replacing a damaged one — will be less than 10 minutes.
Besides, there will be no need for the motorist to leave the vehicle, the daily said.
The new workshop will provide number plates for private vehicles and private transportation vehicles, while heavy vehicles and company-owned vehicles will continue getting them from the Fahes centre (Woqod) in the Industrial Area.
Construction of the new workshop has been completed, along with work to install the necessary equipment, and it is expected to be operational soon.
