Winter market to open again in Qatar
With winter steadily approaching us, now is the right time for a goods’ market with some fresh produce right from the farmers.
The Ministry of Environment announced that a winter market will be opened on Thursday in three different locations in Qatar.
The markets while providing a wide array of fresh veggies and poultry directly from the Qatar farms without any middle men, could be found in Al Mazroua, Al Khor and Dakhira and Al Wakra.
Around 77 Qatar farms will take part in the winter market this time, 33 in Al Mazroua, 22 in Al Khor and Al Dakhira and 22 in Al Wakra and around 70 types of vegetables will be on offer.
40 animal farms will also involve in the market and this time, around 11 new outlets will be added to the Al-Mazroua livestock yard.
There will also be a slaughter house and Al-Widam will add up some variety by offering Australian Sheep to the consumers.
Also, eight fishermen will participate and provide fresh fish to customers in Al Mazroua and Al Khor and Al Dakhira markets in addition to stalls by 12 local animal farms.
The winter market will go on until June next year. General supervisor of the project, Abdulrahman Al Sulaiti, said “We have extended the season to seven months, instead of six months, which will reflect positively on the Qatari agricultural sector”.
The prices too will be less compared to the central fruit and vegetable market.
Interested to pay a visit to the market? Then, remember the market will be open only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of every week from 7AM to 5PM. [The Peninsula]
