UDC leads Seabed Cleanup at the Pearl Island
United Development Company (UDC) successfully organized a large-scale Seabed cleaning campaign at Porto Arabia on the Pearl Island, in partnership with key public and private organizations, including Qatar Red Crescent, Friends of the Environment Center, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and the Ministry of Interior.
The initiative aligned with UDC's five-year sustainability strategy brought together 163 professional divers who removed approximately 1,500 kg of plastic and metal debris from a 150,000 sq m area. Additionally, over 1,000 community members participated in eco-friendly activities such as planting, recycling, and energy conservation.
All collected waste underwent recycling or repurposing ensuring minimal environmental impact. The event also coincided with Qatar Sustainability Week, during which UDC introduced new initiatives, including the ‘Collec'Thor Sea Cleaners’to bolster marine protection efforts.
With its largest cleanup to date completed, UDC remains steadfast in promoting marines conservation and advancing sustainable practices to attract investors and enhance Qatar's environmental and tourism appeal.
