'Warif Academy' launches to empower students with disabilities
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), in collaboration with Qatar Foundation (QF), inaugurated 'Warif Academy', the nation's first government school dedicated to students with multiple disabilities. This groundbreaking initiative reflects Qatar's commitment to providing equal educational opportunities and fostering inclusivity, which aligns with global best practices and Qatar National Vision 2030.
HE the Minister of Education Lolwah bint Rashid AlKhater emphasized the academy's transformative role in empowering students through customized academic and therapeutic programs, preparing them for active integration into society. With services tailored for children ages 3 to 21, Warif Academy combines education, rehabilitation, and family partnerships to unlock the full potential of its students.
Starting in January 2025, the academy will expand over five phases, ultimately accommodating 150 students. It represents a significant step forward in Qatar's broader strategic efforts, including initiatives like the educational voucher program, to enhance opportunities for students with disabilities.
