Well, Long overdue update:-

But I have had no word yet regarding the status of my application. I am in direct contact with the Editor in Chief and I asked him whether he had reviewed my application. He said yes! lol at least he looked at my C.V so who knows?

I will probably send him an additional writing sample so he can better assess my abilities..

Only time will tell I suppose.

I would love to work at Al-Jazeera International. I have had some independant Journalist experience and I graduated with a degree in Public Policy Management (+Minor in Financial management and a couple of certificates)

What are my prospects of even being considered? I am an American citizen of Palestinian Descent (I speak Arabic and English flawlessly btw).

Honesly, I HIGHLY doubt I am qualified, even though I know like half the station! (My mother worked with QBS for nearly a decade in the late 70's and early 80's and many old time broadcasters have close ties to AJ+AJI)

True,

But what I do believe is that the Channel still newly established .

It is true that competition play an essential role But the shiny fact is that in Qatar foreigners may trespass the chances to acquire jobs in there much more than Arabs or even gulf folks their selves

Thanks

(off topic)

There have been 7 Canadian Astronauts so far, so yes, your chances of being the first one are "0" ;-)

Al Jazeera International have an English Language website, and have had for some months. On that site there's a 'situations vacant'. There's also a link to their commissioning site in which they explain that they prefer working with independent journalists to hiring a big team.

I can't help thinking that a would-be journalist might have found this out for himself, but Good Luck anyway.

Please dont. I will tell you now that you have no chance in hell. When this channel headhunted some of the worlds best known broadcasters from CNN, BBC etc i think they had a plan in mind.

I dont want to burst your bubble but i think you have as much chance of being a broadcaster in al jazeerah as becoming the first canadian astronaut.
