How to practice a medical profession in Qatar?
I have a friend who recently graduated and passed the medical board in the Philippines. By profession she is now a General Practitioner. Are there opportunities for her in Doha to practice her profession, or at least work in a hospital to be a resident physician? Will it be credited, or does she need to study again & take an exam to be accredited as a doctor here?
You need to go to NHA and submit requirements. An examination is needed for you to have a licence to practice, you can only take it 3 times. One of the requirements i think is to have at least 2 years experience of your chosen field. But if you are an MRCP or USMLE passer you will no longer take the examination,i think they will give you the said licence right away.
She needs to passed the licensure exam in Qatar to practice medicine. Visit NHA main office beside Lulu center Alsadd, they have certain requirements to submit. Good luck!
My understanding (which may be wrong) is that the Qatari National Health (located next to Lulu opposite Hamad Hospital) does not accept Philippine Medical Certification as 'equivalent'.
Maybe there are exceptions for specialists?
The best thing to do would be to visit the NH (mornings) and ask; they are responsible for the licensing of doctors, dentists & pharmacists here.
