Acclaimed author and INSEAD professor Dr. Soumitra Dutta understands the incredible impact Web 2.0 and social networking are having on our lives both personally and professionally. 'Throwing Sheep in the Boardroom,' the first comprehensive book written for a wide audience on Web 2.0 social networking.
The event will take place Sunday, May 17 at the W Hotel from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. The event is open to the public, but seating is limited and advanced registration is required. Individuals can register at www.ictqatar.qa/connectedspeakers.
ictQATAR's Connected Speaker Series was developed to bring global and regional thought leaders to Qatar to address some of the hottest issues in ICT and how technology is changing our lives. ""Information and communication technologies are rapidly changing the world we know. It's important to keep up on the latest trends and developments or we risk falling behind. The Connected Speakers Series is a great opportunity for our community to hear from leading experts on some of the hottest ICT issues,"" said Howaida Nadim, ictQATAR Communication Director.
An international authority on all aspects of ICT in the knowledge economy, Dr. Soumitra Dutta brings with him a refreshing global perspective and a dynamic and informative presentation style. Dr. Dutta has co-authored several noteworthy books on technology, and his most recent, 'Throwing Sheep in the Boardroom' examines how online social networking is transforming people's personal lives, organizations, and behavior as consumers and citizens.
He will transport the audience to the world of social networking and cover how anyone can use social media sites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter to quickly build influential networks. 'Throwing sheep' is a Web 2.0 term used to describe what people do on websites like MySpace and Facebook to get one another's attention. The book's title suggests that traditional settings such as boardroom must be adapted to embrace Web 2.0.
Dr. Soumitra is the Roland Berger Professor of Business and Technology and Dean of External Relations at INSEAD, named the #1 international business school in the world by BusinessWeek. He has also co-edited eight annual reports for the World Economic Forum on the impact of information technology on development and national competitiveness, the most authoritative and comprehensive assessments available. The latest report ranked Qatar as the 29th most networked nation in the world.
