Job for Wife

Hi Everyone! I just joined the forum not too long ago, my husband is in process to line up the paperwork for his visa and I think I will be getting the accompanying visa.

My question is, I have an MBA from the USA, I am a PMP certified project manager, currently working for a multinational airline and have 11 years of experience.

I have applied to several position for which I am pretty certain I qualify for as they either required less experience than what I have or less education/certifications. Some I applied months ago and more recent ones in the last 3 months and out of about 30 applications no one has gotten back to me on wanting an interview or more information.

In your experience do you think the companies are not interested in me because they believe they will beed to cover all of my moving expenses etc? This will be taken care of by my husband's company so I am puzzled. Is it easy for females to get jobs in Doha that they qualify for? (wondering if gender is playing a part in the lack of interest from companies...) Should I forget about trying to secure a job before I arrive and then look for a job once I am local in Doha?

Any input will be highly appreciated!

Regards,

Kiki

Hey, kiki! There's no separate kind of visa that allows you to work while under your husband's sponsorship. But what you WILL need is all kinds of paperwork from home if you want employment here. That includes a police clearance and attested educational certificates.

Everyone, thank you so very much for all the feedback on this. Actualyl husband is in process of working out details of his contract, and we need to find out more about this sponsorship visa for me (the wife) so that I am allowed to work. Does anyone know what is the wife sponsorship visa with rights to work actually called so he can get it in his contract that his company will agree to sponsor me to move there with him WITH the rights to seek employment?

Is there a website from Qatar that explains all that? What are the liabilities if any for the sponsoring company in regards to the wife's visa and in regards to allowing wife to work under husband's sponsorship (assuming I will end up working in a different company than my husband's)

Thanks again everyone!

I would suggest staying under your husband's sponsorship no matter what. Good luck with the move.

Welcome, kiki, probably a good idea to wait until you get here and have the "lay of the land" so to speak. You may get a reduced salary and benefit package (as a captive audience) but you will have more ability to make a better choice. Most companies are reluctant to hire sight unseen and unsolicited from far away.

Thank you all so much for your responses, I really appreciate your input, I feel much better about it now! I can focus on moving and then deal with me getting job once I am there. :)

Cheers!

Its easier for you to find job once you are here.

Also you can register in all the job sites....

When you are applying for a position mention in your covering letter that you will be under your husbands sponsorship that makes things easier, but you loose some allowances. still its worth because when you find a better job you can always change, if you are not sponsored by the employer.

All the best!!

In Qatar, or any Gulf country for that matter, it is easy to get a job once you are here. I am sure that people will be glad to hire u, bcoz they do not have to bother about your visa or repatriation.
