Moving to Doha this summer. I am in wholesale music CDs business in Hong Kong and wonder if there is a market for Doha.

Can you get all latest western charts music in Doha? Any restrictions on selling western popular music CD/DVD? How big is the music market?

Does Qatar allow parallel imports of music CDs and what is the import duty tax?

How much is Virgin selling the popular music compare to UK or US prices? My wholesale price in HK is around US$8-10 per CD and the import duty of 5% is not too high. Are locals (Arabs) into western pop music?

There's a limited market in Doha.

Virgin just opened and they're attracting a lot of customers.

You might want to look into music for certain expat nationalities here; you won't be able to compete with the well-established Indian music outlets but consider Filipinos, Nepalis (similar to Indian but have their own) and even Thais.

DVDs will be checked by the censor. Import duty in Qatar is 4-5%.
