I'm planning about obtaining a visit visa for 1 month and come to Doha to search jobs there?..what do you think?...will that cost me a lot of money (home, transportation, food, internet...etc.)....I'm applying for jobs in Qatar for 1 month and not getting any reply....will I have more chances when I come?...I have a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineer and 6+ part time experience, I know English, Arabic, French and Armenian...my computer skills are great (AutoCAD, Office, Primavera...etc.) I'm single and my Nationality is Lebanese...thx for your time.

thAnk you. That was indeed a very sensible advice., yes, I have a fulfilling job here but the salary that I am getting is extremely low. I have been trying to apply online but it seems no luck so far. Nevertheless, I am still hopeful that I could be able to find one. yes, my friend grace told me I should have atleast 65k pesos to show at the immigration. I have saved for it. my problem is really for my sponsor. Is it really hard to find an employer that will transfer my visit visa to working? is the chance very little? I am confident with my skills and experience but I always have this fear in my heart coz this is the first time that I'll be leaving the country. I really hope things will turn out for the best.. ThAnk you again.

hey sis! being in Qatar is great but better think again... if you already have a good paying job back home and everything is just paying off... i suggest you stay put and wait for the perfect timing, because for my humble opinion now is not the time to be on visit visa and try to find a job here, because a lot of my friends had gone back due that YES they find work but the company can't transfer their visas to WORKING but in cases like your friend who was on a family visit visa that's a different story because they have longer time to stay here. I find it a waste of money and effort if if you come not on the perfect timing, keep on following up your friend here if they (the companies) already have existing visas for Filipina's like you, if not better think again...

applying there in your country will be better if they will give you contract at once and you will come here on WORKING VISA at once that would be better at least you will not be hanged when you come here.

Regarding your Sponsor YES they need to be ABLE to SUPPORT YOU FINANCIALLY while you are here on visit visa, i believe you also need to show some money from your side

if you will come as TOURIST ( this are the one with the one month length of stay)

Good luck to you...

i am 28 year old filipina, currently working as computer instructor here in the Phils. I have a student who went to Qatar last Oct.2009 with visit visa. Her sister who worked in Qatar for many years helped her the entire process. fortunately, she had found a nice job and her visa was transferred to working. She is persuading me to come after her which is actually my tremendous desire, to be able to work abroad and earn high salary. I am not sure if her sister will be willing to play as my sponsor, of course I will be the one to spend for everything,,I have a cousin who is working in Qatar though he's willing to help me,,he don't have enough account savings in the bank. May I ask Is it really necessary as the sponsor to show their bank accounts? I am currently working on my papers now. I will appreciate much any advise you can give. Thank u ahead and God bless!

I was wondering if you encourage sending my CV to companies without knowing about openings there, as you adviced certified BisDak... (I'm too grateful for the advice actually)...I mean wouldn't it be a waste of time?...or do you think it's better to send the CVs directly without knowing about openings, which will give more focus on the CV?

The power of e-mailing your CV months before you depart is the most sensible thing to do. Plus, prepare a minimum of 150 sets of your CV, good pair of shoes that can surpass possible long hikes (under intense heat of the sun) when you distribute your CV to the different companies, and extra cash, patience, and obedience to the law of the land.

I suggest you start sending your CV to companies (minimum : 20) here while you are still in Lebanon so when you are in Qatar you will just make follow up....

Try calling this number: 4666091 or fax ur cv 4666093,

they are our MEP sub con, this company is runned by Lebanese....

Hope this suggestion helps..

Good luck and may God bless u...

Hotels here are horrendously expensive. Hotel food is even more so. You have to take taxis everywhere and that adds up. I find that the tourist expenses in Doha approximate that in New York.

Everything about looking for job on visit visa is odd.

#1. Obviously, you come on visit visa but your intention is to find a job, and that is illegal. It is extremely dangerous because, you know, the law does not grant excuses to anyone.

#2. Even if you apply to all the job postings that you can find, expect to be called for an interview by only 0-5% of the companies you applied in during the duration of your visit visa. Best if you will be immediately awarded with the job that suits you, and your visa be converted to work visa before your visit visa expires.

#3. Financially, if you just have to live within your means, then that won't be a problem.

#4. Get a good sponsor, one who could be with you through thick and thin.

Just quoting from experience. Voila tout!:)

Sir Pepsi is right...I am planning to find the job with the visit visa and then transfer it to a work visa or whatever it is called...will that cost me much?..I mean visiting doha for about 2-weeks?...what are the odds about finding a job?..are they minimal?

By anonymous• 23 Aug 2009 16:25

Of course visit visa is not allowed to work, however if you could find a job you think they could process you work permit so thats it.... one of my friend caught working without visa she was detained for serveral days or weeks... until her visa iron by her employer....

I am plannign for such idea too... but i guess i try to find a company first before i leave if they got my CV and qualified me after evaluation.. so thats the time for me to go using visit visa then they will process the working visa probably.... I am looking for an IT jobs either System or Network Administrator

No baldrick2dogs, i think what he means is that he is 'Not going to Work while on Visit Visa", but he will try to find a job and come back after the visit visa to work.

"Everything is okay in the end, if it's not ok, then it's not the end."

"When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us."

It is one of the terms and conditions of the visit visa. They will stamp your passport "Not allowed to Work" or some such .... but everyone does it!

hi baldrick2dogs...glad you are here...can you tell me please why it's illegal...I have a friend who is now in Qatar working...he got his job while on visit to Doha...is it dangerous?

Feel free to chime in here, people, but I'd venture that your chances of obtaining a good job are somewhat less while here on a visit visa. That's not the purpose of a visit visa and the employers know it. You'd be submitting your CV anyway and chances of being called for an interview during the one month while here aren't very good. Patience, my dear, patience ...
