Qatar vs Aussie

My hubby has just gone lucky, again. He’s received a good offer for a job in Qatar. Then, he received another good offer for a similar job in Oz. The net financial benefits are very compatible for both jobs, but the Doha offer will pump just few more $$ into the bank account. For our sons’ education, Aussie is better. The weather is better too there. What do you think guys? We need to pick up one of these two offers within max a fortnight. Unfortunately we can't take both offers :-( Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

If you can get virtually the same money in Australia then it is a no brainer to go there.

The list of reasons why you should go is just too long to even begin listing but to say a few.....

In Australia you get to live in a beautiful country with lots to do and see, endless opportunities for your children and a country with snow, mountains, deserts, tropical forests, excellent reefs and fantastic beaches.

V's Qatar......

As another Kiwi here I would say Oz in a heartbeat, no job security here, dumb locals, lack of entertainment..the list goes on...if the job is not much less in OZ jump on it...good luck!!

One other thing worth considering. You are Harry and you are married to a man.

Could be an issue in Qatar :o)

Oz is booming at the moment.. Not sure how long the current boom will last. Taxes are high so few less $$ in the bank.

You have to decide what is your priority. Good quality of life or few extra bucks?

I ve been in both countries and currently in DOha now. It isn't worth the money. Your Son's future is much more important and moreover he would rather sulk in Qatar where as he and you would have many activities to participate in Australia.

Just for a few bucks..I would suggest not to come here. I am waiting for my cards to turn around so that I would be back in Sydney soon.

Take care

Hate to say it as a Kiwi I should be going for everything possible against, however Australia is a wonderful place to bring up children.

Just make sure they don't end up sounding like something out of Neighbours or Home and Away.

There is nothing that turmoil wrong with Qatar. but above posters nailed their personal experiences... however in the end your decision still will follow. If I were you i'll stay in OZ with my Family, a better law system, and most especially the future for your children.

One of the key problems for expats is childrens' education.

If the offers are comparable. I suggest staying in Oz, till the kids are at Uni and then coming abroad..

If the money you are saving is Qatar is for a better life when you leave, why pass on a better life now? The choice is obvious.

Reasons:

1.Good weather

2.Good eduction for ur children

4.Entertainment and life style

5.peace in Australia ..... Middle East faces serious changes.

6.Possibility of u becoming part of the society and get all citizenship rights

7.Freedom of movement; u need not a exit permit to travel as the case in Qatar here
