One of the problems you will face is the problem of you or your company being granted a "single female visa".

Even arriving here, your company will still need to apply for one of these. If granted they need to decide if it's best used for you in Document Management or some other female employee that's needed.

The benefit of being here is that you are available for interview - that's a big plus. But there's a big question around your actual job & I'm not sure it's highly needed in construction companies out here.

Just a comment. Your original post had both spelling & grammar errors. "whats peoples sound" Do that, and you'll struggle to get an interview. Superior English language skills are part of what you have to sell, and a strong differentiator in your discipline.

lsn it's better to apply online for jobs in Qatar (most respectable companies only accept online cv's anyway)...

Mention on ur c.v that u can travel anytime to Qatar. You might do an interview over the phone & if they like u, pack ur stuff then come... that way u'll save money & time...

good luck

yunu, i guess seeking job in construction companies with your specialities is little hard, since here, as in my company, they hire companies to do document management for them, but they do have vacancies for IT.

my company is applying prince2 system right now, hiring a company for this. if you like i'll find out the name of the subcontractor fyi.

Yalla!

Thanks guys.. getting a good balance from both ends,

I have been applying for sometime but I guess im just not patient enough. I have 12 years of experiance with me, its just being at the right place at the right time.

I will go with the flow i guess... see where the universe takes me

thanks everyone for your sound advice.

And your best package for employment would be as an international hire. Stay where you are and keep applying for jobs. If you haven't completed your education, do so, as you are unlikely to have any decent opportunity here without it.

cause you need to have a sponsor who'll provide you with it...so as i unerstand you're still looking for a job , so ...use your british passport , come for a one month visit visa and find a suitable job...when u do find , the sponsor will issue a work visa for you which could be stamped on ur passport while ur in qatar...and here you go , now u're ready for the residency's procedure...

yunu, I'm not sure what advantage you will gain by being in Qatar. You will still have to apply on-line and wait to be interviewed. The only possible upside is that they would not have to bring you from the UK for a face-to-face, but that is not necessarily a good thing. Many employers here view "local hires" as cheap labor - a captive audience, as it were. I would counsel patience for you and suggest that you cultivate the QL folks for possible leads in your area of expertise.

If you are on multi-trip visa's, it doesn't mean you have to fly back to London every time. You just have to leave Qatar. Take a day trip to Dubai, with a low cost carrier. Believe me, after being here a month, you'll probably need it anyway. ;-)

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough...

Hey

Thank you SO much for the vote of confidence.. I have spoken to the embassay here in London today.. I can get a multi-trip business visa she said. But it means every month i have to leave the country? anyone know what this means? Does it mean each month i have to come back to UK and fly to Qatar? bit bizzare!

Hello Baldrick

No im a Document manger, i design document management systems, my main forte is IT, but worked as a Business Analysis in rolling out Livelink (similar to sharepoint) but i also have PRINCE2.

I gave up my IT work to work in a construction company where i am now, i thought by having construction experiance i thought it would be easier to find a job in the middle east as Construction is the main field out there..

boy was i wrong.. nothings easy in life. Thank you for pointing this out.. i might have to revamp my CV

Your profile says Document Manager. What is that? Is it like Document Controller? If so you will be competing against low paid Filipinos and Indians, with a take home of around 5-6k/month and a squalid room in the industrial area for accommodation.

Hi Darude..

I have been to Doha few times, i know what the country is like, many people say their HR is a very slow process unlike UK... do you think 1 month would be ok?

Its just frustrating applying for jobs over the net. They hardly respond and the SLA is about 90 days...
