Travel to Qatar and get a job...craziness?!

Hi there! I'm a 30 year unemployed girl and i'm thinking of going to Qatar for a week ('cause I can't afford much more) with my brother to search for a job opportunity for us. We have been answering to several job offers but there are few responses to our candidacies. PLEASE let us know your opinion about: when is the best time to go there (Christmas is not a time to employ ppl?)? Do you think we manage to deliver a lot of cv in a single week in the job agencies? Which job agencies will you advise us to go in Doha?
Thanks!
Ana

i came from the states and had high hopes of landing a great job here since qatar won the 2022 bid. my uncle encouraged me to come here and try the middle east. i've had interviews but nothing really serious. i was a warehouse manager back in the US and was being offered to sell LCD Tv's at LULU Hypermart. it's been almost a year (i came early december 2010) and still haven't started working. though my visa is being transferred to a Q company, the waiting period was really tough. as peter griffin said, it's best to apply online and get your employment from where you are residing. good luck

Coming here for the sake of applying will not get you anywhere. You won't even pass security at any company and even if you do, the boss is not there and your CV will be placed in the trash can probably.

Best is to apply online. If they want you, they will let you know. But it is also good to come and check out the city and see if it is something you can handle in terms of living.

It depends greatly what type of job you are looking for. However, if no one has answered your applications, I do not advise you to come here. It will most likely be a waste of money!

Rather keep an eye on the advertised positions and apply from where you are.

Best of luck!

flor1212 is right,

Some people even stayed here for many months and not find a job that "suites" them.

I suggest to start it now while you are not yet in Qatar, 1 week is way too short of stay, most of the time they reply 1 or 2 weeks after.

Go with the usual procedure, hope you find the best!

others are consuming their entire allowed stay and yet could not find a job. The best way to go here is find a job there and let the usual procedures run!
