UK Accountant. Employment. Qatar
Hi There. I am moving to Qatar in 12 weeks with work. My husband is a chartered accountant in the UK but, is struggling to find something out there. He has tried usual routes but it seems that all recruitment for his sector (finance/ insolvency/ business analysis) is web based, making it extremely difficult/ impossible to get a response from anyone on progress.
This is extremely frustrating for us as obviously we are keen to make the move, but he needs to find a job.
ope someone can help with any information.
Many thanks
please i have Kuwait coins about 50 pieces, how can i convert them to Qatar riyals.
my number +97477650151
We're not THAT BIG...but we get at least 50 a day....and yes, I reply to them...like I said, its just a couple of minutes to reply.
even replying mails..aint easy, but i seem to like your response azilana.....you really have a good heart to reply job seekers with so much care and believe.
i'm sure you would have given alot of people much comfort out there.......
Azi so you have time to personally respond to 20,000 applicants in a matter of weeks? Good for you. I find that the auto response telling them when they applied that if they have not heard in 30 days they should consider themselves unsuccessful, this should be more than enough!
-- "if" their qualifications meet our requirements, we will contact them. If they dont hear from us, it's "common sense" for them to realise what's obvious.
-- "if" they send a follow-up or even call, I just tell them the truth.
I have a lot on my plate when it comes to work load, but spending 2-3 minutes to answer their call or reply to their e-mail would be LESS workload for me.
I always think like this: I was once an applicant, looking for a job...so I know how it feels to wait and hope that I would land that or this job.
Azi, glad your company has the resources to employ someone to respond to every single one, we probably have over 20,000 that have applied in the last few months alone. The problem if we do respond is some applicants then want a dialogue as to what was precisely wrong with their cv and then for us to store and remember them for the future and then we get follow up emails after that as to why we have not found them a job yet. All I can say is to keep an eye on the careers page and keep applying for anything suitable
and I always find time to reply and inform them that
- we have no vacancy at the moment
- if the qualifications meet our needs, we will reply.
I believe the person who spent time to send the application deserves a reply so he wont waste time waiting for something that isn't there.
At my husband's US university here in Qatar you cannot respond to an unsuitable candidate because that makes them "in the pipeline" so to speak and certain laws and rules use be followed. So if you are not short-listed, you won't be notified.

Mandi - if no response after 30 days, then will be no. most large companies here receive thousands of Cv's a week and cannot hope to reply to every single one. most organisations with have an auto-response to the effect that if you have not received a response within a certain time frame, you have to consider your application unsuccessful, this is the only way that they can manage the volume of people applying.
In a web-based recruitment system, silence means "No."

As with most things in society - recruitment is web/email based. This a fact and the only usual way to apply for jobs.
r u searching job in qatar, you just put an advertise on gulftimes with ur mobile number.if you get any job here pls let me know. i will pray for u
I sympathise with you - the web based applications are very hit and miss.
Your best bet is to wait until he is out here and make contacts - as he will be under your sponsorship he will be local hire - which will make him more attractive to employ
