After having done a search on fish aquariums...
...I now know that Beauty Fish carries aquariums and supplies. But here's my problem: I was given an aquarium with 6 goldfish, filter, and aerator by someone who was moving back to the States. That was a week ago. Everything was going fine. The fish were thriving, very active, and eating well. Tonight, I get home from work and a class only to find that neither the filter nor the aerator are working. Additionally, four of the six fish are floating... Strangely, the connection for the filter in the power strip seemed to have loosened; and I have no idea how that was even possible. The aerator seems to have just died. Can anyone suggest where I might be able to get a new aerator (oxygenator) tonight?
where is the beauty fish near mumtaza ?!!
You're right JackFrost, under normal circumstances the fish probably would have been fine, but the aquarium is fully covered with the light and the filter component, and therefore even just oxygen from the room couldn't penetrate the surface water. The water condition was ideal, and the fishies were fed properly. Afterall, they're goldfish. They should be pretty hard to kill. I felt horrible seeing 4 of them floating at the top. I still haven't figured out why both the filter and the oxygenator crapped out. They're separate units running independently of one another. Who knows, maybe it's the impending full moon. Thanks for your input.
Thank you so much, both of you! I wish I didn't have to go to class, tonight. If I would have gotten home earlier, I may have saved a couple of fish's lives, and had time to go out and get an aerator before the stores closed. I know my sis kept a goldfish in a fish bowl without an aerator for a couple of years! Hopefully these two survivors will make it through 'til I can get them an oxygen generator.
It should not of killed them, ponds don’t have air filters, it could be your water for sure, never use water from you hot water tank to warm up the water, add a little salt. Don’t overdo the chemicals. Main reason fish die is no food… they can breathe from the surface, only rule is the top of the tank must be bigger or same size as the bottom.
Not sure what time they are open till - maybe 10 - but not entirely sure to be honest, but there is Aqua Art on Salwa Road , coming from Ramada go straight at decoration r/a, straight again at next r/a then u-turn and its first shop on the right.... good luck :)
It is already 9:00pm and Beauty Fish in Mumtaza will close exactly at 9:00pm and will open tomorrow morning at 9:00am. I think the water is already bad and there is no more oxygen in it. It will be better if you can change the water immediately to avoid further problem for the fish. Beauty Fish is also selling all the accessories for an Aquarium. I think there is one pet shop in Fareg Al Naser but I am not sure if they have fishes and aquariums. There is Animal Kingdom and Animal World Centre.
