Is it only me?

Please be honest, is it only me that finds the bird section of the souq a disgrace? I can't believe the cruelty and horrendous conditions the birds are placed in. One parrot has started shredding it's tail feathers, which is a sign of severe stress. Another smaller parrot has had it's TAIL and wing feathers cut short to prevent it flying. These poor birds stand outside in the heat and have children teasing and poking them through the bars on the cages. Surely there has to be some law that makes this all illegal. I feel so sorry for these birds. Am I the only one who finds this unacceptable? Maybe I am just too soft and love animals too much. This evening I watched 2 young children teasing one of the parrots and the mother of the children laughing. I am so disgusted!

So sad. I have a parrot, and she has a very nice life in the air conditioning. Although parrots are native to hot climates, being caged, tormented, and suffering from the Qatari heat is just horrible.

yes it is disgusting .... i dont think there is any humane society ar law in qatar which is obvious if anyone has ever been to a petshop in this country. it makes no sense to me that they let the cats and dogs look like there dying sleeping in there own excrement....surely they would sell more animals if they were cared for , clean and healthy.........no logic!!

I was in animal kingdom in al nasser street and their was a persian cat ... beautif but its furr was matted ,it had an eye infection ,its paws were caked with faeces... and he wanted 1500.!!! i told him noone is going to buy an animal that looks like that its haram and he just shrugged didnt care!!!

maybe people should start petioning the ministry.

all they seem to care about here are falcons and horses.

Very disgusting. To me, those acts of disrespect to the birds are equal to showing those people's ignorance.

The wing feathers of almost all birds which are outside cage are cut short ( to avoid these lil creatures flyin away n attract people ) . When i asked a shopkeeper about this he said these are babies n it ll grow , i donno whether it works or not . Not only that , hundreds of birds are being dead everyday coz of this extreme heat .

I loved animal too. I also wish I could have and rare those birds at home. but I cannot accept the fact that I have to cage those birds. I always think of myslef being locked in a room and could not go anyway. Sometimes I think if I am rich. I will buy all those birds and let them free and just feed them everyday.

I used to have birds dropping by at my window sill and I feed them.

To if we do good to living things, we will get goods things in return...
