Which locations are ‘dog friendly’ in Qatar?
Knowing that an area is pet-friendly is one of the things many people consider when moving to a place or shifting into a new locality. Contrary to some beliefs, pets are welcome in Qatar but when it comes to our canine friends, in particular, there are some issues that dog owners must keep in mind -.
According to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s Department of Animal Resources, “Dogs are generally not allowed in public places, including parks and the Corniche. Dogs are allowed on some beaches and parks provided that they are leashed at all times.” It goes without saying the key to owning a dog is that the dog should be well-behaved. Secondly, if you are walking your dog in a public place, it has to be on a leash at all times. Thirdly, you must clean after your dog. Keeping a pet dog in your house is allowed in Qatar depending on the building owner. It is wise to check to ensure pets are allowed in your home before you sign the necessary paperwork.
Dog owners will be glad to know that Qatar is developing more parks and beaches where people can enjoy time with their pets. We have jotted down some of the areas to live in Qatar, where you can comfortably own a pet dog.
Musheirab
Musheirab is the closest area to Qatar’s largest park that allows dogs - Al Bidda Park.
