Qatar Foreign Minister: No way Qatar will lose world cup

Qatar's Foreign Minister Khaled al-Attiyah said on Wednesday that there was "no way" Qatar would be stripped of its right to host the 2022 World Cup because it deserved to win and had the best bid.

"It is very difficult for some to digest that an Arab Islamic country has this tournament, as if this right can't be for an Arab state," he told Reuters in an interview in Paris.

"I believe it is because of prejudice and racism that we have this bashing campaign against Qatar," he added.

When asked if they could lose the right to host the tournament, Al-Attiyah said: "No way Qatar can be stripped (of it). We are confident of the procedures and deserve to win it because we presented the best file."

He also said Qatar would be able to prove it had done no wrong when the time came. [Reuters]

If it can give it to South Africa and Russia, then Qatar deserves it too

I do agree with Mr. Fry that Qatar is not qualified to handle the world cup. Not because of racism but clearly because of the condition environment. Most of all is the human rights violation that the country is tolerating. So what racism at they are talking about? Work Visas are still through sponsors, an old tradition of slavery. Concealment of deaths of workers are rampant in this country. I've been in this country and it's so depressing seeing people living in inhumane conditions. I hope the committee moves the event to a more respectful country.

Good news: Former FIFA vice president Jack Warner has said in a dramatic TV address that he will reveal all he knows about corruption at the world football body.

"The bid evaluation also contained an operational risk report that was skeptical of the bid. FIFA determined that Qatar posed a medium or high risk in eight of nine categories. In explaining why Qatar was a high risk in the "team facilities" category, FIFA noted that the facilities did not yet exist and the cooling technology that would make them bearable in 105-degree heat was untested.

The US' bid received better marks across the board." So, how can the FM say "we had the best bid". Does he think we are all stupid?

"it deserved to win and had the best bid". This is a blatant lie. Qatar had the WORST bid according to the FIFA Evaluation Report. The BEST bid came from the USA with only one category (Ground Transport) as 'medium risk'. Qatar has two 'high risks' and the rest are 'medium risks'.

Got to agree with him. The next two World Cups are safe.

FIFA cannot afford the litigation costs if they tried to strip either Russia or Qatar
