WATCH: Qatar's Fahad Badar becomes first Arab to scale Everest and Lhotse peaks in single journey

Fahad Badar, an executive manager at Commercial Bank of Qatar, has become the first Arab to reach the summits of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse during the same expedition.

According to Qatar News Agency, Badar made history when he scaled the peaks of Mt Everest (the highest peak in the world) along with 30 others and Lhotse, (the fourth-highest mountain in the world) in a single journey between May 22 –May 23.

This adds to Badar’s previous mountaineering accomplishments, which saw him successfully scale Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Mt. Elbrus in Russia.

For the Qatari adventurer, climbing mountains presents a unique learning experience that drives him forward in his quest.

He says just as climbing up the corporate ladder can be unpredictable, so is climbing up mountains.

“It depends on exactly where you are on that ladder. In the boardroom, we ask for a plan, yet in the office, we know that those same plans will be outdated as soon as they are finished because of the pace at which the business world operates. So with this at the back of my mind, I knew that no matter how much planning I may do to prepare for the mountain, I will have to adapt and learn to take quick action based on the situation,” Badar says on his official website.

It was his business acumen that helped Badar to learn more about mountaineering. With a lot of hard work, determination and research he was able to achieve what he has. But, it doesn’t stop here.

According to plans he has shared on his website, the passionate high-altitude explorer has set his vision to conquering more mountains in different continents across the globe.

Badar is the second Qatari to scale Mt Everest, and the first Arab to reach the two peaks on the same trip, Qatar’s Ministry of Culture and Sports said through its official Twitter account.
