World Cup readiness

More questions about World Cup 2022 readiness. More sour grapes from an American sports columnist or genuine concerns?

i guess steve1 ur really missing the point here.... its not abt the money...thts a low level of understanding ...money might buy u cheap labour and professionals to chug it day and night for the bling bling on the pocket...but wat abt the expereince...???? ...it jus doesnt take money to have a good world cup....sadly in such a world its all about who u are and how deep ur pockets are.... thts all there is to it.... i dont knw abt u .... but i have lived here long enuf to know tht there are somethings tht wont be easily altered to suit an event tht will be held jus for 30 days..yeah most argue its 10 years away so on and so forth...but ur really missing the point here........sadly most events here feel artificial....u know wht i mean?? i realy cant put it to words....most of the events and rather the environ are family friendly...and well to say the least i hope the thought of the world cup being a world thing and not a family thing .......gets into the heads!

i was turkey not too long ago....and i cud hear a loud chanting and massive street mob singing...i thought it was probably a protest of some sort or maybe a final of two big teams.....but i was told tht the local league jus started...and this was the local team tht was playing against another one...they even told me tht the team was a small one as compared to galatasary and the other giants.....now can u imagine tht happening here....the league jus started have a look at the matches on TV.....

the reason i pointed out this is becuz the country has to be crazy abt football...yes they love for the game is there..but is it craze.... if not then for wht? n isnt it confusing when u say i am folowing these principles and relax sum for an occasion....(im being careful!) do u realy think tht these huge numbers of labourers ( who will suffer the most...compared to the simple discomforts the rest of the expats and even citizens will face) and so called professionals...will actually be the magic stick to the collasal issue of organising a world cup? i dont think so....u see unlike those guys who voted sum of us do know wats up......and with the available capability (not jus in money.....i am talking man power, skills, land, infrastructure, resources threshold, cultural norms et.all) its gona be a massive massive effort....but in the end..will it be worth it.....i really dunno....after all maslows heirachy theory states tht...the higher u go on the scale...the more one achieves self actualization..but is it this?? self actualization by organizing a huge huge spectacle tht requires possibly chances of collasal problems???...i sincerely hope it turns out good....but then again like earlier posts i am also sincerely hoping for a miracle.....!!

I am not sure that people have fully grasped just what wealth this country has!

they have eleven more yours to prepare, it will happen, and it will be fantastic.

They will just import all the labour required, put the managers on large bonuses and do what they do best, sit back and extract liquid gas to pay for it all.

For those of us who are here through the preparations, it is going to be a horrible, dusty road conjested time.

Mind you, rents will be cheap afterwards due to all the excess accomodation that will have been built.

I came across an old promotion magazine for Qatar a while back that my company had, dated from about ten years ago. According to officially-endorsed publication, many of the major infrastructure projects--like the railway, new airport, industrial city worker housing, etc., etc.--should have been finished several years ago!

Unless there are some major changes in terms of how these projects are implemented and pursued, my guess is that we'll be looking at some half-finished stadiums in 2022.
