"10% of total Vietnamese workers in jail"

By e46M3

What I find interesting is the statement that "Vietnamese workers were involved in several fights with their Nepalese colleagues."
Gives a bit of background to the cannibalistic crime.
I'm interested to find out why the animosity between the 2 nationalities. It's certainly not an issue of geographic-based rivalry.

Pinch hitting was invented by Dev Whatmore SL coach) and Arjuna Ranatunge (SL captain. I beleive your betting syndicate theory. Banladesh Beat Pakistan in the same way in a World Cup match earlier

Stinks of a cover-up now.

because the point I'm making was a comparison with the topic of this thread, as the papers here now saying cannibalism wasn't the case in the Viet/Nepali incident.

Think I will go read a book lol

don't they - and that's what I'm getting at, NOT whether you believe that change of opinion is right or wrong :o)

Just the fact that the diagnosis HAS changed - despite all the medical evidence at the time of the 'incident'.

jauntie ...the guy Bob Wolmer was bumped off...by the Betting Syndicate. Just like Hansie Corney (S.African Captian) was bumped off.

Bob was killed on the eve of the unbelievable-loss of Pakistan in the World Cup. He was better known as the Coach of Sri Lanka & for inventing the "Pinch Hitters" in the opening Overs (Sanath Jayasuriya & Kaluwitharna).

Betting is an enormous market in India & Pakistan especially in Cricket.

People involved in it are the big shots of cricket like Kapil-Dev & Azarrudin even Gavaskar.

One umpire who made a lot of money was Steve Bucknor.

so much for Hijacking Threads..

"Why spoil a good story with the facts"

I was itching to publish the story when it appeared on QL, but hung on and on until finally I got confirmation (though The Peninsula and Al Sharq). Now it turns out to be bullhsit.

In future, I'll know that when the headline begins with "IT'S TRUE!", it's obviously not.

that not everything you read in the newspapers is always the end of the story, not to mention having the facts right!

In both the case of the vietnamese and the cricket coach the original information given to the newspapers were latterly denounced as incorrect!

Or were you just joking :D

Spoken to doctors in HMC. Even among themselves they're still trying to figure out which doctor actually diagnosed or did the X-ray on this Vietnamese patient.

However, there was a case of a Chinese national who went to HMC Emergency complaining stomach ache, and they found out that he actually ate a cat.

I guess when people don't get paid, there's no boundary to what he can eat.

about the Pakistan Cricket Coach???? (think it was Pakistan) who died after that match against the Irish in Jamaica?

It was confirmed in the papers and by medics that he was poisoned, held down and strangled a few weeks ago.

Now it turns out it was all untrue and he died of natural causes.

The initial reports caused no end of upset and mud-slinging.

Crimes don't make it to pages of the local newspapers unless they happened.

It could be a rumour because:

If they killed sombody & wanted to dispose his body it would be damn easy to bury him in the sand dunes in the desert.

If they were cannibals then there would not have been any fingernail in the guys stomach.

If the guy had a stomach upset the doctors do not send for a stomach x-ray they usually prescribe antacids tabs. Only on persistant stomach problem would they send him for an x-ray.

And if he was a cannibal he wouldnt have swallowed the finger-nail.

Tell me which is easy -

To bury a guy or

to cut him into pieces (would require the noisy electric saw, Skinning him, cutting off his flesh (there would be an lot of meat by the way), Storing it all (20kgs of flesh), and then cooking it little by little.

I guess the best part would be beja fry (Brains Fried).

many a times stories are published and then its too late to take it back, so everyone tries to hush it up by calling them fabrications.some real events have also been called stories because authorities dont want it to reach the people's ears.

anything is possible.

what WhoMe said makes sense.cannabilism is a serious issue, and i dont think qatar would want to be associated with such.

believe in the possibility that such a thing could have taken place.

If its a rumour, then recently what appered in a paper that some one went to HMC emergency with some kind of alergy and they founf a Finger in the stomach ??? whats all this ??

Should we belive what ever its published in Papers turns out a rumour after couple of days, then there is no value for the money we pay and buy these news papers.

I think there are some political blankets pulled over the killing. I think the reason why they turn it into a rumour now is publicity. The state doesn't want to be famous for canibalism and severe crimes. In my nopinion we can observe a censoring of news here in Qatar!

In today's Gulf times, Nepal embassy confirmed it was a Rumor...wonder why people spread such terrible rumors. But Vietnamese are notorious for all these antics.

I came to know this evening that the cannivalism story is just a rumours only? (not from the papers but from a reliable source)
