Starvation and undernourishment have reached a dangerous level in the Tharperkar desert of Sindh province in southern Pakistan, where hospital records in the province showed the deaths of 120 children, including new born and infants, during the past thirty five days, while 170 children are being treated as a result of contaminated drinking water.   According to Mitha Hospital administration, the deaths resulted from a lack of nutrition.   According to the WHO, 15 percent of women and children suffer malnutrition. Details indicate that most of the residents of the villages of the provinces of Tharerkar and Omarkot face starvation and difficulty of access to food, clean water and the lack of health services and medicines.   Health authorities in the province have sent four medical teams to remote desert areas to deal with cases arising from malnutrition and anemia.

the tharparkar area is a remote area in the deserts connecting pakistan with the rajasthan deserts of india . The government , the media and volunteer organizations are working hard to alleviate the situation. The spread of news is itself the sign the media is highlighting the disaster zones .

It seems that the politicians are too busy lining their pockets to worry about the poor and needy.

Why is their government not doing anything, all I see on the papers is their prime minister always eating and eating and never getting work done during his travels to other countries. Shame!
