Richmond High student gang-raped outside dance

(10-26) 18:40 PDT RICHMOND, CA -- It was a crime shocking not only in its brutality but in its callousness, Richmond police say.

A 15-year-old girl leaving early from the homecoming dance at Richmond High School was enticed into a darkened alley just off campus to hang out with as many as a dozen young men who were drinking.

When the girl joined in and became drunk herself, police say, the men attacked her. One after another, as many as six men raped the girl, police said Monday. Others watched. For more than two hours, no one tried to stop the attacks, and no one called police.

"What's shocking about it is there were so many people willing to involve themselves in such a serious crime," police Lt. Mark Gagan said. Equally shocking, he said, was "the number of people who witnessed it and who were in the area of it occurring who did not take steps to stop it, report it or help our victim."

The attack happened Saturday about 9:30 p.m., shortly after the girl left the Richmond High gym where the homecoming dance was still going on. Police believe she was waiting for her father to pick her up outside the school at 1250 23rd St., in the northern flatlands of Richmond near Doctors Medical Center. Before he got there, however, a friend from school invited the girl to join a group of people hanging out and drinking, Gagan said. The girl drank a large amount of alcohol before she was sexually assaulted by members of the group, police said.

Around 11 p.m., the dance let out. Marin Trujillo, a spokesman for the West Contra Costa Unified School District, said the four Richmond police officers and three school administrators who supervised the event had helped to clear the campus.

The attack, however, was happening in an out-of-the way alley just north of campus, police said. In the dark, no one saw a thing. Somehow, rumors about what was happening finally spread to a house party, Gagan said. A person who heard the story called police around midnight, and when officers showed up, they found the girl, semiconscious, curled up near a lunch table.

Running from the scene was Manuel Ortega, 19, who used to attend Richmond High but dropped out in 2007 to attend a vocational training program, authorities said. Officers caught up to him and arrested him on suspicion of rape, kidnapping and robbery - the assailants stole the girl's jewelry, police said. Ortega was being held at Contra Costa County Jail in Martinez in lieu of $800,000 bail. Police are still looking for the other men who took part in the attack, and have questioned two juveniles, Gagan said.

Richmond High was a shaken school Monday. "Everybody was distressed," said the school's principal, Julio Franco, whose daughter attended the homecoming dance. "Anybody who needed to be listened to went to speak to counselors."

Richmond may have a reputation for being a rough town, but such an attack on a 15-year-old girl is "not normal at all," Franco said. "We need to let (the girl's schoolmates) grieve." Although the incident apparently occurred off campus, Franco took the news hard. "It's one of our students," he said. "I tell them once they leave their house, they are my children."

Cesar Torres, an 18-year-old senior at the school, said, "It's depressing. People nowadays have no shame. All I can say is that I hope they can catch the sick people who did this and hope that no one else gets hurt."

Charles Ramsey, a member of the West Contra Costa school district, said officials intend to install surveillance cameras at the school by next year. Plans to purchase the cameras had been made before Saturday's attack. "We're moving forward with providing enhanced security," Ramsey said. "We'll redouble our efforts to ensure that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated."

ginormous Koranic interpretations here? This particular crime didn't happen in a country where Shariah law predominates, so it's irrelevant.

These horrible crimes against young people -- young women in particular -- happen everywhere, in every religious and secular society. And yes, it would be wonderful if young people would engage the brain and not get themselves into precarious situations to begin with, but young people aren't the best at making smart choices all the times.

That doesn't give license to people to abuse and violate them, but c'mon...she's a 15 year old kid. At that age, their decision-making abilities suck. Add alcohol into the mix and...

And anwar4annu: You or any man could easily be jumped by "as many as a dozen young men" and violated...so please don't lecture about how this girl should have been with her father or brother. And no matter what she was wearing, she didn't consent to be raped by a bunch of guys.

I love listening to people argue that because men can't control themselves, we women should have to cover ourselves up in big, shapeless, unattractive garments. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your own behavior?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah Noor verses 3-5:

3 Let no man guilty of ‘zina’ (adultery or fornication) marry any but a woman similarly guilty or a disbeliever; nor let any but such a man or a disbeliever marry such a woman: to the believers such a thing is forbidden.

4 And those who launch a charge against chaste women and produce not four witnesses (to support their allegation) flog them with eighty stripes: and reject their evidence ever after: for such men are wicked transgressors

5 Unless they repent thereafter and mend (their conduct): for Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

Meaning Verse-3: Let no man guilty of ‘zina’ (adultery or fornication) marry any……

The commission of ‘zina’ is an absolute abomination in the Sight of Allah Subhanah, and the Lord Most Majestic guides the believers to treat this evil act of ‘zina’ as an abomination!

Such is the abomination of ‘zina’ in the Sight of the Lord Most Majestic, that He absolutely forbids the believers to seek to marry spouses who are known to be immoral or unchaste. An immoral or unchaste woman is a fit match only for an immoral and an unchaste man, or a disbeliever; and similarly, an immoral and unchaste man is a fit match only for an immoral or an unchaste woman, or a disbeliever……it simply does not behove or befit a believer who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day to seek to marry a spouse who is known to be or is proven guilty of the abomination of ‘zina’!

The absolute majority of the scholars and the jurists in Islam are of the opinion that this restriction and prohibition of seeking to marry one who is immoral or unchaste applies only to those men and women who persist in their evil ways, not to those who sincerely repent and amend their conduct, for sincere repentance in Islam indeed wipes out and obliterates one’s past evil deeds.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2357 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "He who repents of a sin is like him who has committed no sin."

Meaning Verse 4: And those who launch a charge against chaste women and produce not four witnesses…..

One person describes another person’s affairs (true or false) before others, and the others pass on this information to still others invariably with one’s own additions and variations….thus causing the filth which was once a secret and in one place to all of society. This Shariah Law intends to stop the spread of this evil gossip and/or slander!

Even if one is an actual eye-witness to another’s crime of ‘zina’, one has absolutely no right to start accusing or launch or publicize the charge of ‘zina’ against them….unless and until the person can produce four eye-witnesses who actually witnessed the abomination.

If any person in society accuses a chaste woman of being immoral or an adulteress, and is unable to bring forth four reliable eye-witnesses to back up his charge in a court of law, absolutely regardless of whether or not the accusation is true or false….the one who makes the accusation but is unable to bring forth four witnesses, will be guilty of ‘qazf’ and the Shariah Court will prescribe that he be flogged eighty lashes for his unsubstantiated allegation against a chaste believer!....and this person will be forbidden to bear witness ever again in a Shariah Court of Law.

Meaning Verse-5: Unless they repent thereafter and mend (their conduct)…..

The majority of the scholars and jurists in Islam are of the opinion that if one accuses a chaste woman of being immoral and is unable to substantiate his accusation in a court of Shariah Law by bringing forth four witnesses…..his sincere repentance will relieve him of his sin in the Sight of Allah Subhanah, but his repentance will not be able to relieve him of his crime of ‘qazf’ or unsubstantiated accusation against a chaste woman in a court of law in this world and the person will thus be prescribed eighty lashes by the Judge for his ‘qazf’ in accordance with Shariah Law.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verses 30-31:

30 Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.

31 And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their ….. in this case i equally blame the girl for this action bcoze:

1.after the school hrs she goes to hangout in a dark alley with unknown people.

2. she hangs out with those people who were using alchol and most of them are male.

3. she drinks a huge quantity of alchol and gets drunk as we all know alcohol is the source of all evil.

i hope she gets well soon.

The culprits should be hung, drawn and quartered. However, the girl must take some of the blame. She was only 15 and " was enticed into a darkened alley just off campus to hang out with as many as a dozen young men who were drinking.

When the girl joined in and became drunk herself ...... "

samia, penis license or not doesnt matter here.

Important is how girl should be protected, right.

girl should go with brother or any elder person if she is young and cant protect herself and should wear decent dressing not like open invitation to commit rape.

Bastards!

Castration of pedophiles and rapist

To curb this trend (in fashion) of the XXI century many countries were thought to take measures:

Poland - "treat these monsters forced (as he characterizes Premier Donald Tusk) with special drugs" was certified a few weeks ago.

Denmark, Sweden and Germany have laws for chemical castration of pedophiles and rapist.

Czech Republic - has the toughest law in this respect, because in addition to chemical castration and surgical castration is applied.

France and Romania wants to introduce this law and it.

Russia - wants to introduce a law that pedophiles have the right to choose between castration plus a term of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

poor girl

she made some poor decisions, She accepted an invite from some older guy to come into some dark alley and drink with a bunch of guys who were also drinking.Any normal person in that situation is not accepting that invite.

...does that give anyone permission to rape anyone? Obviously not...but through a series of poor decisions she put herself in a very dangerous situation.
