these are laws which applies at different places of Corporate World....It is on an individual whether to adopt or reject; certain people compromise with their 'Values and ethics' in following these rules to reach at the TOP. A few get victimised and then turn the table on others. Seen so much RAT races and felt happy to be away from those idiots. As always says The richest man is the 'ONE who is self content'.
Some people learned from these laws and ensure that these won't get practised/bullied at their WORK place to have a balanced and harmonised working environment.
Fragileheart, ok i can forward you the copy i have. just pm me your emaild add.
i see a wide variety of comments to this thread.all i can say is "it's your attitude that defines your altitude".....many people are happy the way they are.some are ambitious.some apply all these rules to get what they want and reach where they want to.some take only those that apply to them (like me)....that is just an act of survival in a sea of corporate sharks.nothing else.as long as you don't trample on anyone on ur climb up the corporate ladder,i think it's okay to follow a few of these rules.....
and mehnis,no,i don't think so that Law 18 applies to me.i've got way too many friends :-) i believe only in the concept of mental isolation at times.i need to have some "me-time".... ;-)

eagle, you snatched the words out of my mouth...i was also in the rat race in my country but couldnt survive amidst the corporate politics...i had to resign and work abroad in a much peaceful environment..
hi svelte thanks for the sheldon's e-books that you sent me. i enjoyed reading it... i'm looking for his new release Mistress of the Game but i think it's not available to free e-books. (sorry for hi-jacking):)
Rishimba, sigh...
Well, the rat racers are rats! I'd rather be poor (well, middle class) and happy, than be a rat!

Law No. 7 undeniable... they are everywhere... They are the master of their own craft. But denied responsibility.. i hate them, i was a victim before.
eagle, the corporate world is not filled with simpletons like you....
if you are in the rat race to reach the top by outdoing the others, you have to beat them in their game as well.
you should put on your acting cap as soon as you enter the office and take it out only when you are home..
I think I'm a lost cause...
Law 1 Never Outshine the Master
- This is for politicians only.
Law 2 Never put too Much Trust in Friends, Learn how to use Enemies
- Erm... put a lot of trust in friends and don't use anyone. Stay away from people who seek to harm but otherwise, mind own business.
Law 3 Conceal your Intentions
- Dislike this and prefer truthfulness so that people are aware and can be prepared. But agree that discernment is needed. No need to blab unnecessarily.
Law 6 Court Attention at all Cost
- Dislike attention. Prefer to keep a low profile.
Law 7 Get others to do the Work for you, but Always Take the Credit
- Aww!! This happens so often and is so darn irritating!! Why should we take the credit for something that is not our work? Accept responsibility for something that is within purview and answer for it but give credit where it is due.
Law 8 Make other People come to you, use Bait if Necessary
- Don't have time to play games like these.
Law 10 Infection: Avoid the Unhappy and Unlucky
- Nope. Find out what they are unhappy about and try to help if possible.
Law 11 Learn to Keep People Dependent on You
- Aww.. This is another irritating "law" - hey, who is this author anyway!!! ???
People should be free to choose to work with you or not. Free to grow and improve and contribute to the company. They should be given guidance as to how to do the job, that they become capable of taking over your job ... as if you're going to live forever :P - might kick the bucket soon, at least someone knows what to do to ensure continuity. Who gives a sh!t if they become better than you? It's better for you that they become better than you - you have another person to help you get the job done more efficiently. That translates to benefit to the company as a whole and everybody benefits. It's not all about you.
Law 12 Use Selective Honesty and Generosity to Disarm your Victim
- Not good. Allergic to liars.
Law 13 When Asking for Help, Appeal to People's Self-Interest, Never to their Mercy or Gratitude
- Can't do that. To thy ownself be true.
Law 14 Pose as a Friend, Work as a Spy
- As above.
Law 15 Crush your Enemy Totally
- Feel like it but work to change things. Some people need training.
Law 16 Use Absence to Increase Respect and Honor
- This one doesn't work, does it?
Law 26 Keep Your Hands Clean
- This one I totally agree with.
Law 34 Be Royal in your Own Fashion: Act like a King to be treated like one
- Another darn irritating "law". That's like waving a red flag in front of a bull! Prefer down to earth leaders. Pride comes before a fall.

No time to read the above but was watching tv at meal break yesterday and caught a glimpse of Dubai Tonight (or something) interview with Robert Greene. He said asked if people forget all the 48 laws, what should that take away from the book - he said the underlying law of all was fearlessness. I heard someone else mention that as well - that this is what separates leaders from followers.

Law 9 Win through your Actions, Never through Argument.....Applied by Sachin
Law 11 Learn to Keep People Dependent on You.......Create Indispensability..while management Hates to have one.
Law # 26 Keep hands clean.......Our Politicians need to follow!
Law 29 Plan All the Way to the End......US failed incase of Iraq and Afghanistan War against Terror!

------------------------------------------------------Whenever I find the Key to Success, Someone Steals it.
oh well,i guess it's our culture that's made us the holistically developed individuals that we are :-) if we follow these rules,we'll reach to the top for sure.....but we'll have very few friends there :-)

The problem is...most of these laws are totally opposite to what I was taught by my parents while my childhood. I cant change myself now :(
------------------------------------------------------Whenever I find the Key to Success, Someone Steals it.
no,no,that's not what it means....it's like you create a scenario wherein u make sure that u are indispensible ;-) like ur absence will totally make things go out of order....and everybody is looking up to you to solve their little problems at office ;-) that's what it means by "learn to make people dependant on you"

the way to seduce others is to operate on their individual psychologies and weaknesses.
follow all these, and ur path to the top is paved clear ;-) guaranteed.... ;-)
