9 fantastic events to enjoy this week (January 15 – January 21, 2017)
A lot’s happening in Doha this week. If you’re interested in shopping till you drop, Doha’s first ever shopping festival will make it easier for you. If you’re into adventure, the GCC Camaro gathering in Doha will keep you busy and happy. If you’re looking for some family fun, the African Circus is bound to entertain you. If you’re a sports buff, the upcoming Doha Triathlon, is definitely the place to be. But, that’s not all…there’s lots to do all throughout the week. Just read on:
1. Shop Qatar ' A Brand New Tradition: Doha's Very First Shopping Festival (January 7, 2017 – February 8, 2017)

The Qatar Tourism Authority, in an effort to boost tourist inflow into the country, has announced the launch of a new shopping festival named ‘Shop Qatar.’
The event’s first edition, under the slogan ‘A Brand New Tradition,’ will run from January 7 to February 7 and will offer mega discounts on popular brands, cash prizes of up to QR4m and special offers on flights and hotel bookings.
The event will also boast of entertainment activities including Cats the Broadway musical, live music concerts and 15 stand-up comedy acts.
The festival, which aims to target regional visitors, will offer discounts of up to 50% on a range of consumer goods including clothes, electronics, cosmetics and accessories for men, women and children.
In a move to support local entrepreneurs, Shop Qatar will also feature local products designed by students of Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar and other local designers. They will be on display at a variety of pop-up stores throughout the participating malls.
Venue: Qatar, Ezdan Mall, Hyatt Plaza, Al Khor Mall, Lagoona Mall, Gulf Mall, Landmark, Dar Al Salam Mall, The Gate and The Pearl-Qatar will be a part of the celebrations.

3. The African Circus (January 8 – January 21, 2017)

Come to Hayat Plaza and enjoy the antics of the African Circus. It’s absolutely free and a fun activity for adults and children alike. Get ready for an adventure with the African Circus. This international show has been touring around the globe as a unique form of entertainment from the African continent. Watch in splendor as the multitalented artists awe you and your family!

4. The Laughter Factory Two Night Doha Run

5. The Hell Bells in Qatar

6. Doha Triathlon (January 20, 2017)

Mark your calendars for the first ever Doha Triathlon on Friday January 20, 2017. open to all athletic levels, be part of this great event featuring both Olympic and sprint distances with the stunning views of Doha’s skyline and the Museum of Islamic Art in the background!
This is the inaugural year for the competition, after a successful junior test event in 2016. The race will be over the both full Olympic Triathlon distance – 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run and Sprint triathlon distance 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run, taking in the spectacular Doha Corniche and MIA Park.

Dari Qatar: A film by all of us
Throughout 2016, people across our great nation have been submitting video clips for the Dari Qatar project, and we at the Doha Film Institute have been weaving them together to create a tapestry of daily life in Qatar.
The premiere screening of this hugely successful portrait of Qatar took place at Katara Cultural Village, with a red carpet event for Qatar’s dignitaries and officials, as well as for all who contributed to this amazing project.
