Accommodation of Filipinos

DOHA: Burglars have struck again at another Filipino accommodation on Thursday in Muaither prompting the Philippine Embassy to call on the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation on the incident.

This is the second similar incident perpetrated by still unknown suspects that victimised Filipino workers which took place in a span of less than a month.

“We will ask the police to conduct a more thorough investigation into the incident since this has happened twice among our community members,” said Ambassador Crescente Relacion who expressed alarm over the incident.

According to one of the victims who is a field engineer of a construction firm, the suspects have ransacked at least seven rooms of the villa by destroying the doors and have taken away eight laptops, four mobile phones, two digital cameras and cash and valuables worth QR20,000.

He said the police have already conducted an investigation at the scene of the crime.

Just like in the previous incident at a villa in Altamimi Aziziya, the suspects had entered the house during the day time while everybody was out at their workplaces.

Relacion has advised Filipinos living in villas not to leave any valuables and cash while going out from home and instead deposit them in safety vaults of their offices if need be.

The Philippine Association of Safety Engineers-Qatar Chapter (PHASE-Qatar) has also issued some safety measures to prevent such incidents in happening in the future.

Francis Tan, president of PHASE-Qatar, suggested that Filipinos living in villas should now consider installing CCTV cameras with built-in memory, put some metal plate on their bedroom doors and set up a fire alarm system to deter burglars from pursuing their ill motives.

Tan said they are also considering a separate training seminar to community members that will focus on safety measures at home similar to that being conducted by the Ministry of Interior to various communities in the past months. The Peninsula

Have a nice day whyteknight! Just to remind you that there is still a good life waiting for you out of cyberworld..Try to mingle with some filipinos outside and you will find that they are one of the most hospitable people you will meet. We dont have any problems dealing with other nationalities well in fact, I have some good friends from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and our friendship are just like others.

Maybe one of this day we can meet and have a coffee outside. What can you say?

And what is this about partitions, dividing and sub dividing of rooms and open areas and living in congested and insect infested rooms. Are this people aware that this is a serious fire and health hazard and illegal too. The lingering fish smell is a good receipe for small and crawling insects to be running all over the place and this alone should have kept the robbers away

a**hole thieves would rather rob Filipino accommodation than going to an Indian accommodation full of garbage, filthy and nothing is valuable.

A**hole old white men would prefer Filipina than any other filthy women in the Qatar, many will agree with me.

Yes Yes Mallrat. You should get to the bottom of this. There are costumes available in that shop in city center which can make you “Super Mallrat”……they come with a cape, mask and gear…

Seriously though – leave it to the police…they have ways and means to catching criminals here – starting by fingerprints (provided the criminals have an RP)…

Why are some a--hole blame the Filipinos for living and sharing in a tiny rooms, or if we us Filipinos have gadgets and well maintained cars.

.The point here is somebody should do and solved these crimes.

If you read the OP you will see that Cameras, Laptops & Mobiles were taken as they are easier to be carried out without anyone noticing much.

Nobody will take 10 numbers of LED TVs or big ass systems for karaoke machines in broad daylight.

By anonymous• 6 Mar 2011 13:06

In a mind of a thief in Qatar, if he knows that the house belongs to a filipino then for sure their spoils will be -

- A Karaoke machine.

- A big ass system for the karaoke machine

- A laptop (this everyone has)

- Guitar/keyboard (most probably – good brand)

- Tons of other gadgets (PS3, Ipods (for sure), ipad, smartphone loaded with music, high end digital camera etc)

All the above have a ready second hand market in Qatar.

If the thief does get hold of the car keys – then he’s got a well maintained car with an awesome sound system and alloy wheels. Sweet.

How to get access – look for advt in malls/QL – asking for bedspace (For Filipino’s only) :-)

Btw that would also explain the 8 laptops in one house:-)

Gotta luv ‘em Filipinos.

It is obvious that a villa occupied by Filipinos is divided into 10 tiny bedrooms but was originally 5 bedrooms with 2-5 occupants in it. This is the best target of the culprits because in fairness to Filipinos almost all of them owns a laptop, each room has a 42 inches LED Sony tv, PS3, PSP, XBOX, latest mobile phones and a lot more of electronic gadgets.
