Ageing parents
By pearl of qatar •
A headache for plenty of expats.... I want to get my mother to come and live with us in Doha. She is 83, and in good health. Anybody have any advice about health care , visas, home nursing, possible problems etc. Thanks
i am not sure about it but i think and what i experienced if parents age is 60+ then it would be difficult to get their visit visa even. Once i tried for my parents but officer refused because of age. Both are now in seventies.
God bless your heart pearl of qatar for taking care of your ageing mother. And God doubly bless your husband (if there is)for allowing you to have your mommy.
progress
True that its very difficult,
but impossible is nothing .
goodluck.
83 years old is having difficulties for traveling long distance....
Last time we went for a visit in Al Rumeilah Hospital with Aisha and other members of QL. We saw old people there abandoned by their own family. One of them, she always have her stuff ready to leave and will ask for Sayara as she wants to go home! How can people threat their parents that way? better to leave them in their own country rather than getting them stuck in another country! Very sad! sigh!
Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig 2 graves...
he is 75 years and in excellent health...
I litterally begged the officer but he refused.
No big deal at least for visit visa which can be extended for 6 mths.
Take a copy of her passport & apply for Visit Visa at the Immigration office. You get it within a week. Initially they issue it for about 3months after which you can extend it for 3 more months max. at the rate of QR200 per month.
Not a big deal. Indian couples get their mom over especially when they have a newborn.
This is something very difficult to do.
You have to go to immigration and explain/plead. There is no set procedure for senior citizen residence permits.
Or wasta if you've got.
