My favourite is COD4,as the the 5th is a pale copy of its predecessor.

Waiting for the 6th!

the show...

initially I thought there is only static exhibition, fortunately..they fly the plane...and my kids really enjoy that...

...and quite dusty but even a small car can make it there.

-Parking was a mess that's right.

-I was excepting more RC aircrafts display

(Did you request the Qatar Scientific Club to provide theirs graeme?)

-I didn't understand at all what was being said in the mic?

-I came to know too late that free flights were available, even though I asked before

(I know you were too busy to answer graeme :))

All in all,I really enjoyed the show.

and maybe next time, some improvements such as:

1. Proper parking place (meaning assigned parking attendants to supervise parking cause it was a terrible mess at about noontime)

2. A bigger place to spread the aircraft and let people enjoy viewing and taking photographs.

3. The road to the field was not suitable for small cars (I supposed so), at least during promotions, organizers should notify expected visitors to use bigger cars in going there.

But the Airshow itself is really an experience! Congrats, guys!

Thanks for the pics.......i was the guy in the yellow fluro jacket supervising all the ground movements of aircraft.

I'm glad you enjoyed the day. if there is anything that could be improved, please let me know and i will raise it at our next committee meeting.

Thanks also for the private message re: forming an aviation club. There is a group that are aiming to purchase 2 light aircraft and wish to commence Private Pilot Licence training for those that are interested.

There was activity at the field until sunset......lots of flying and also parachuting.

Large tent is being assembled at Al Khor Airfield, for the airshow. Latest confirmed arrival is a twin engined beechcraft baron with "glass cockpit" from kuwait. We are also expecting 3 visiting aircraft from saudi.

You are welcome to display it at the show......we have mechanics that could attach wings. LOL

Hope you can make it to the show. We will keep an eye out for a pink KIA!!

Obviously you haven't been near me when I "fly" around Doha. I am actually thinking of installing a speed limiter and rear wing to stop the thing from "taking off"

hi Azilana,

the location is on the al khor coast road 50 kms north of Doha.

If you travel north from doha, first drive past the golf course, then as you had further north you will reach the lusail motorcycle race track....keep travelling north... about 1 KM before the al khor round-about you will see a sign for the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority Al Khor Airfield on the right hand side. follow the sponsors flags and directions to the field.

If you go to google earth you can find it 50KMs north of doha on the coast, just south of al khor.

Sorry Davva,

There will not be any large jets....mainly due to the size of Al Khor Airfield.

We will have small jets and privately owned piston aircraft, parachutists....and model aircraft displays.

I hope you still turn up on the day, the kids should still have some fun

Graeme, 2 days makes more sense - you take all that time to setup and just as you finish you have to dismatle it all again.

Here's to next year :O)

Did you Google it first?

By Davva• 18 Jan 2009 08:09

my friend tells me this is in direct competition with Dubai airshow but they have agreed to fly the Emirates A380 over for a fly past, should be good.

We are really excited about walking onto the Qatar Airways Boeing 777, I have not been on one before, kids will love it.

Last year I missed it then I thought I will make sure to make it next year if it really happens...

But unfortunally I am flying on 22nd ...this is too much to take....I am a Aviation Man and wanted to meet the people who are in the industry.

Is any Falcon in this airshow? What type of aircraft do locals have? Cessna or King Air? Twin Engine or single Engine.

Thanks
