Any Russians out there?

Some friends of mine from Moscow are coming here next month to determine whether they will accept job offers. They want to know if there is a Russian family/social scene in Doha. One is a 10 year old girl who is fluent in English but may feel lonely without some Russian friends to mingle with.

Any info would be much appreciated.

My email address is [email protected] and my cell phone number here is 5949577.

In addition to to the 10 year old girl (who is fluent in English) is her mother who is 35 and also fluent in English. They are both from Moscow.

Tell me about yourself TinyEve. Who will you be working for and where are you from?

I am of the Russian origin coming in a month to Doha. Would be nice to get in touch with those of the soviet background. Though have no children to entertain a 10-year old girl of your friends.

Thanks for the responses but I have yet to find any Russians. Is there a Russian shortage in Doha? I am getting Russian withdrawal symptoms. I know some Russians in Dubai but none here. Can we import some?

There are quite a lot of Russians in the city, but there is no social scene at all. Embassy tried once to organize a sort of "community meeting", but the outcome was really disappointing. For some strange reason we don't socialize with our countrymen :(

Your friends however might want to check out forums on www.qatar.ru website (in Russian) and ask their questions there.
