An Appeal to Admin
This is one request and a suggestion,, Also would like to hear Qlers commends if they also experience this like me.
Browsing through the QL threads.. either at ''recent posts'' OR ''recent comments'' you see some interesting stuff written in english and you click and enter.... and in the thread you will see english is been put in the mixer and kept there...lol
It will mostly be phil epxat group thread. you dont understant a word and and you will be like ;;huh'' and click back or move o someother.. this happnes many times a day, which sometimes piss me off.
1. Recent posts ;; Either Title also to be in that language or where its shown ''story'' add the group name too.so you know its not your cup f tea.
2.Recent comments ;; Donno how to sort it there, cause ther 'll be english and phil language there , many at times you click english and get ditched.

bisdak - appreciate and thanks. NO i didnt mention about the main forum. I mentioned about the recent posts/ recent comment links which gives english titles and when enter it will be non english.
And in those - most of them... I repeat most of them but not all are tagalog, i ddnt mean to offend the community or language, it was a straight forward suggestion to improve the site, Admin can take it or leave it,thats up to them.
Make the title too in the language the thread is--- so no strangers peak in.lol,
Few are offended here for no reason,which i cant help. I have no reason to be jealous like someone said above lol.. i belong to community which has 3 million people in the gulf..
So this has nothing to do with anyone in particular. Its just a suggestion to improve the site.

well, zayd, you could start if possible by making surveys... does QLers like color coded schemes or something else, blah, blah, blah... IMHO.

haha thanks for your support guys! this site is pretty good but hopefully more color can be added and if that solves some of these minor problems then that's two birds with one stone! One color for english threads since it's the main posting language and one for others...or even better one english, one tagalog because the filipino community is quite large here as well and a third for others. I'm not sure how much work it'll take but it would certainly make this site easier on the eyes!

You are all too serious about this that after reading the replies I feel like I am in a place where race has been a problem.
First of all, it's not a waste of time for those who have accidentally opened a topic they can't understand because most likely the main reason why we are here is to kill time, meaning we have many time to spare. So it's a little weird when people say it's a waste of time.
Secondly, to all my fellow Filipinos here in Qatar participating in the QL threads... we should not be very sensitive when it comes to criticisms such as this one. We are not in the Philippines. Qatar is in a multicultural ground and we can't always please everyone.
Thirdly, to other nationalities who have opened a topic that they can't understand. It's all too easy. Just click on back and you are off the topic anyway.
Lastly, again CHILL OUT everyone. We are here to enjoy and work and not fight or get annoyed with each other.

i like the color blue... it suits being sensitive, but it's just me though and again as what others have told their personal opinion, blah blah blah... this is just mine.

arien my personal apologies to you, mostly newbies posted it wrongly, just ignore and dont read it! were part of this ql community like you. better you pm the admin. if you have some suggestions or whatever. im sure thats for the best for this community, am i right?
Ok guys we got the point but let's try to make a solution here rather than to voice out on what we want to say. So, can we come up with any possible ideas on how we can make QL a better site?

but scrutinizing the poster, he could have metioned "non-english" posters rather than mentioning Filex group. Well, maybe unintentionally but definitely, with malice. If we take it personally, that's our traits. We are serious about things that needs attention.
If he doesn't want to single us out, then he can make it "double" or "triple" it by mentioning other groups. But the fact remains that Filex is so active that his posting is really directed to us! Good day, Madamme! and to Arien, too!

In my opinion the author is just jealous and a warmonger.
If you want to address the admin, you can contact them through pm, simple.

jauntie, it maybe true that filex people are some of the culprits behind but it is also true by facts that post like this happens to use by some people out of the filex group to stir issues to ours, they use threads like this and ride along with it 'till it became uncontrollable to handle that's why when some group mentioned either the author doesn't meant to or totally has different thing in his mind, eventually some posters do and use it and everything carried along with it.
hope you get my point, i think it's what DMS are trying to imply, name of groups, nor individuals shouldn't be mentioned... but again, as I've requested the author points to admin and not us, let's not use this thread as tools to create walls as people did before be it implied or deliberately. focus not on personal comments but rather solution on what the author addresses...

I do like Mr. zayd's suggestion. If we can resort it out with color schemes, then, perhaps we could avoid issues like these. and by the way, I love visiting Filex community page once in a while, and I don't blame them for being an active group and community. Filipinos normally use tag-lish (tagalog/english) words all the time and I don't see anything wrong about it. I'm sure we could find out a better solution on this. Chillax guys!

dmightysolomon - Hope you saw above that its not only Arien's problem.Almost everyone wastes time ending up in those threads by mistake.its solvable issue too.
I have not pointed anything against philgroup or the community.rather i agree they are one of the main strength and support of QL.
I pity you dont understand the meaning of the words ''REQUEST AND SUGGESTION'' ..it doesnt mean ''TEACHING'' in english.grow up.

better idea is to ban all postings that is not English. That way everyone will be happy isnt it?
and the fact that we also have a diversity in our dialects, we easily understand each other in the englich language. Not all of us are good in "Tagalog" although mostly understood it, so we are comfortable in communicating in english also.
Arian should point his admin call to those who post arabic in the main forum!

It's nothing against the Filipino Expat group. To be honest, I am a little jealous and in awe of their activity.
I would however suggest they make the "Titles" in Tagalog, so that everyone is aware straight away that it is aimed at their community..
(just a request to people who will gonna comment on this, please bear in mind that the sole reason for this is to keeping things in place as per arien's suggestion and should not tackle some sort of differences and misunderstanding (again) and point things out to just one group though it definitely applies to all.
it is being address to the admins of QL and not us, so let just leave it to them, if you think you have something in mind make a point that it's relevant or keep it to thy self. just a request from me, a member of QL Filex group whom are tired of seeing people singling out the group, we are just any other group trying to co-exist, what's wrong with that? Lastly i am not saying one cannot comment, i only request that we should be responsible enough on what we put onboard.)
to Arien, you have a good suggestion, hope it's doable but it may require extra efforts from admins i guess, hope they can do that as something new this year so that what happened in the past may just be a thing of the past.

how about colors??? when creating a story you get an option to choose if it's tagalog or not and then the background color of the post or of the reply or the font color or something changes...not that i'd like to see segregation, it's just that i think this site needs a little more color :D
The FILEX group is almost more active than the General Forum so by virtue of that there are many 'recent posts' from that group and also 'stories'.
I have to admit to finding an interesting story then after clicking on it find it's all tagalog. It's not a problem and I can't think of any way to avoid it.
It's just disappointing, sometimes, when the topic of the thread looks interesting. :D
First of all that's why its a FILEX group. It's meant for Filipinos. Secondly, why are you singling us out... there are posts by other nationalities in their own vernacular but you didn't complain about them, ex http://www.qatarliving.com/node/11436 and if im not mistaken it is also in the main forum. Don't make an issue about small things when there are bigger things in life to deal with.
the only difference is Arien spoke up. Thats all.
Th eother problem is on the recent postings also this gets mixed. I think the group discussion post shouldnt be appearing in the recent comments section.
not to others. We apologize if a newbee of Filex is lost if he/she accidentally post a thread in the main forum but spoke in the Pilipino vernacular. Lately, with our constant reminder to ourselves and fellow members, this kind of "lost" posting have been minimized if not totally eliminated.
It's up to you to learn not to open a "story" posting and just keep yourself to the "forum" topics.
Do not teach the Admin to adapt to you but try yourself to adapt to the Admin ways. We all do!
