Arms are big business ..

The Obama administration has informed congress that it wants to seel arms worth around US$60 billion to the Saudis.

Andrew Shapiro said that "This proposed sale has tremendous significance from a strategic regional perspective".

Ofcourse , it will also help boost the economy..

This is not about whetehr it is the USA, UK or France who are doing the selling, but about the timing and the need...

Are we adding fuel to the fire and igniting another arms race when there is no need for one ?

what is the possibility that those weapons would be used against Iran?

If this happened, then US will be getting money for weapons that will be used to achieve its goals!

I don't have ideas now. Can anyone imagine how such a scenario is possible?

Your point is valid..

As I said, the UK has sold Tornados to the Saudis. India has bought MIGs and Pakistan has gone for Chinese and US aircraft. Even the UAE has signed a deal to upgrade its airforce..

My question - what is the point ?

Is it just to show off. is it to buy protection as you said ?

Yeah... The Propaganda against Iran's Nuclear Capabilities was always going to be fruitful for the US. Saudi & other Gulf countries have enough money to support the US economy, 'this way'.
