Ashamed of their Nationality

By flexicode

I was just wondering why so many people on this forum are ashamed of their nationality. may be, some perceive the meaning of nationality as the nation they are presently putting up in. just don't understand. please help me find an answer.

i dont think people will be ashamed of his nationality unless he's an alien fm other planet. :)

By qatarisun• 18 Dec 2010 00:25

it has been discussed 100 times.. when i started using this site, I also put first "qatar". At that time it was not "Nationality", but rather "Country" or something like that. SO i thought since I am in qatar, I put my country Qatar. What's wrong with that? Then later I decided to change it to the country which I came from. At that time you still could change country, and some other details in your profile.

Then Ahmad and Qatari renamed this field to "Nationality", and the entry in this field is not changable now. By the way, i know some brits, germans, canadians, etc., who indicated their "nationality" whatever you just can imagine but the real ones...

It has nothing to do with being ashamed... there are different reasons for it..

right brit, but i don't think for such a humble forum such a high degree of anonymity is required. look at yourself for example, you are anonymous to everyone on this forum and will remain so even if you are using your flag as your avatar. (Now don't tell me you are not from UK ;))

It is not neccessarily about being ashamed. It is more to do with the fact that people in online forums tend want to remain anonymous.

i don't know if somebody's ashamed here regarding nationality, if they're one of your friend, give them a good advice not to.

By flexicode• 17 Dec 2010 17:54

to qatarisun...if somebody is a qatari by profile and in QnA section he/she is asking how to bring their family to qatar or when they can enter qatar before their visa expires, for example, it is easy to make out they are not qataris. I also found someone posting in this forum that he is from kerala (man marrying 11 woman case) but by profile he is a qatari. such and similar posts reveals that what is there in profile, especially nationality, is not always true.
