We understand that the Qatari government now requires a police clearance as

Police - not by the Embassy. AFP applications forms are located on their
website at: http://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks.aspx.
As part of getting a police clearance we understand that the Qatari
government requires the signature on the clearance to be attested. This
should be done by an authorised official of the Department of Foreign
Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Australia. You can find contact details for
DFAT offices at: http://dfat.gov.au/contacts.html. The Embassy in Abu
Dhabi can then attest the signature of the DFAT official. If you require
this service please fax Nadia Shalabi on + 971 2 4017501 a copy of the
Police clearance in advance of the consular visit to Doha, so the Embassy
can check the database for the relevant signature, in order to be able to
attest the original when it is presented to us in Doha.
We can only accept cash in UAE dirhams; we cannot accept Qatari Riyals or
credit cards since we do not have a Qatari bank account or credit card
facilities. Please ensure you have UAE dirhams with you to avoid any
delays.
If you have any questions regarding the above information, the Australian
Embassy in Abu Dhabi may be contacted during normal business Sunday to
Thursday (noting that the UAE is one hour behind Qatar) on telephone +971 2
401 7500 and by following the relevant prompts to be directed to the
appropriate area. Alternatively you can contact the Embassy by email on
[email protected]
Collecting Passports
If you have received a call from the embassy, and have arranged to collect
your new passport please ensure you bring the old passport with you to be
physically cancelled- otherwise we will not be able to hand over the new
document.
Visa/Citizenship/Immigration applications/enquiries
Embassy representatives coming to Doha to provide consular and passport
services are not and will not be in a position to discuss immigration
issues, or receive citizenship and visa applications. All such enquires
should be directed to the responsible organisation, the Australian
Consulate-General in Dubai on telephone + 971 4 5087200 or send an email to
[email protected]. You may also contact the Australian Visa
Application Centre (VFS) at Sherif Building, 5th Floor, and Opposite Toyota
