according to the arabic news papers, OLD cars with no plates, that have been parked in a location and are deemed to be abandoned will be taken away.

Not just 'old cars'.

NPA...dont take the chief's word...the poor guy wouldnt know much.

As mafiriyals said the news was much splashed in the papers ....No permit renewal for 15yrs old car from Yr 2009.

It is good in some ways.

1. Nobody will buy cars with regard to "resale value".

2. More new cars will be sold.

3. Cars as old as 10yrs will be sold dirt cheap.

I guess people would get 14 yr car for Qr 1,000 to run 1 yr and throw away.

Rent-a-Cars will mostly close-down.

I wonder what would happen to the car after 15yrs....dump it in the sea? Or leave it at Industrial Area?

Saw a Rolls one time and from the looks of it, may be an old model, but mind you, still in its top form. Would they ban it from the road? This talk has been going around but no clear announcement from the authorities. The operative word should be 'old and delapidated'.
