YANBU: A hospital in the coastal city of Yanbu suspected foul play when a Saudi man in his 50s, with bruises all over his body, scratches on the face and a red eye, came for treatment.

Local Arabic daily Al-Madinah Wednesday reported that the hospital officials called the police, who found out that the man had been badly beaten by his 40-year-old wife.

The victim told police that his wife beat him after a verbal conflict.

The hospital said the man needed two weeks of treatment.

The police said as the incident was a case of family violence, it was turned over to the concerned authorities.

There might be a real reason but I have personally known both spouse abusers and abused people and I can tell you not always is it for a serious reason that they beat their partners. In fact men are more vulnerable cos unlike women who can be more open about their problem many men hide the fact that their wives beat them cos they don't want to be seen as "unmanly".

it's quite noticeable that all your postings are about Saudi matters! Any reason or just coincidence?

Husband beating occurs in most countries. The main problem is that most men are too ebarrassed to go to the authorities or admit it to friends / family.

fathimah, since the news did not clearly state the cause of the conflict, it will leave the readers wondering what could be the cause..but even though the abuser was a woman, i don't agree in cruelty or physical abuse..

IMHO, there might be a very serious reason why they had a verbal conflict..that unfortunately lead to the painful fate of the hubby..

Don't be too sure. Spouse abusers, be them wives or husbands, hardly need much provocation..Trust me! We assume just cos as women we can never imagine beating up the man we love that others are the same too,but that's not the case. Many time husband/wife beaters are mentally sick individuals that take solace and pleasure in battering their mates.

Well this was bound to happen. After abusing, ill treating and beating up the maids it is now their  time to pursue new  things and beating husbands seems to be the logical next thing to do. Well if you get hold of some pictures of battered, bruised and barbequed husbands you can always post them here.

SAUDI women don't succeed in forgiving nothing.
