Burnt to Death

Three laborers burnt to death in an industrial area camp on street 38 due to fire.

Does any one have any update?

The labourers have been moved to a new camp in Wakra and as far as I know the bodies of the three labourers were being flown home and a certain amount of compensation to the families.

Seemingly and according to a QL source no one is allowed into the camp and the company was going to buy the labourers everything new.

If you would like more information please PM me.

Is there any update on Al-Mukhtar compensation for its employees? I here so far no one has been compensated anything. I think it’s a time buying tactic to get the police investigation closed. All of the sufferers are still living like goats. I am watching ROOTS live right in the middle of Doha - where we hold Doha Debates- in the seventh year of 21st century.

We had a long debat when some families were kicked out of their apartments. Why can’t we do the same for these poor guys?!?

Lets wake up and take some actions to help those who clean our floors and toilets and make us live clean and decently.

Yes, this was happened last week. These labourers belongs to a cleaning company. We have some of their cleaning staff who are working in our office they told us the whole story.

They have lost everything in fire, when they came to work on the 2nd day they were wearing rubber sleepers (4 rilays) and company overall (cleaning uniform) without anything under it !!!

Compensation they received from their Company was a HUGE AMOUNT of QR 100/- (one Hundrerd only)

Anyhow we collected some cash donations for them and also we are collecting warm used/ new clothes and blankets and shoes for them in our office.

Al-Mukhtar said that they were working for it but were actually employees of some other company

The other company will say that they were working for Al-Mukhtar and were residing in its camps so the fault lies with Al-Mukhtar

What a nice example or bureaucracy and red-tape

1- No compensation for the dead. Company excuse - they were working for it through some other sponsor. What can a poor Siri Lankan say? Can they shout or come on the street? Can they cry?

2- No compensation for over 200 residents of the camp.

3- Siri Lankan Embassy is stopped to see its citizens in the camp.

4- All laborers are put in Wakra. Place that is not sufficient for 50, company says it can take 100. However has placed over (200!!!)

5. No nearby grocery store or restaurant. Worse than industrial area!

5- What is this?

6. Who will go to court for them?

7- How can we help?

I also heard that 3 guys were burnt to death at the camp. So happen my cleaner boy is from the same place. So he will not come to work today.

Most of the cleaner boys work with the contracting agent of QP.

What a sad incident!

Pal,

I don't know about that fire but it is sad. Just 2 days ago in Mansoura just in front of my house there was a fire caused by a gas cylinder explosion. No casualties as far as I know except damage to property.
