Healthy food or not, it's all about energy intake. Take as much as you need but not more! My weight is unchanged since I was 18 and I eat what I want when my body asks for it.

Ok, I do not understand why expats constantly worry about the health condition of Qataris? What does that have to do with expats????

It is the Qatari's business, is it not???

DOHA: Nearly half of the Qatari population has three out of five of the risk factors that can lead to lifestyle diseases as diabetes.

Obesity is on the rise among the Qatari population with 70 percent overweight, out of whom 41.4 percent are obese. 16.4 percent smoke. 45.9 percent are found to have low physical activity, with women as the most sedentary with 54 percent against 37 percent men.

Almost every Qatari (91 percent) eat less than five servings of fruit or vegetables on average per day. High blood pressure is another risk factor that affects nearly one Qatari out of three.

These are some of the shocking data emerged from the National Step-wise Survey on the Non-Communicable Diseases Risk Factors issued by the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).

The unhealthy conditions of the Qatari population are reflected in their bad habits. Obesity, smoking, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, high blood pressure: five risk factors that eventually can lead to a non-communicable disease like diabetes.

“If there’s a way to manipulate the human diet to let us live longer, we haven’t figured it out yet and it may

not exist,” said biologist Steven Austad of the University of Texas Health Science Center’s Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies, who wrote an analysis of the study in Nature.

You may wonder .. I myself / my cousins served food to my great grand father when I was 11 or 12 years and then to my grand father till he breathed his last in 1999 & grand mother till this Jan 2012 ...

GGF lived for 90 years ..they say, GF lived for 80 years and GM for 88 years .. without major ailment .. a simple village life.

The same type food my parents my family we are having ... so none of us is over weight ..

Some difference .. my father aged 72 /mother aged 67 got their hearts operated ..

I would say my family is still not worried much ...about changing our food type ..

But I value your concern for living long & healthy ..

That would be right. The point is many people die from health complications brought on by drink drugs poor diet etc. It would be wrong of me to promote wealth over health particularly as i have and do work with children and young adults. The bottom line is more people due from the above which is quite often self inflicted. Many people in todays society die at a much younger age and the next generation are dying younger fr the same reason. Wealth cannot rectify that process and no child really wants to see there parent die paricularly from heart attacks and so on.

A person with wealth can die young for several other reasons, not necessarily related to health and may not have children either.

Without health they wont enjoy the wealth for long. Also by not focussing on health this shortens the life span of your children. Also if a person with wealth dies young surely they miss out on time spent with child and vice versa. Money cant bring that back.

Who cares about health here....it's all about wealth. Nevertheless, what will be your menu?
